The current generation of console hardware ushered in a major shift in online gaming - especially the PS3 and 360. Though the rabids will argue to death on which offers a better online experience, both consoles brought amazing online multiplayer and content distribution to the table. Sure, sure - computers have had such perks for a long while, but never before have things been as seamless as the age of automatic matchmaking and integrated download ...

Sprint has just announced that they’ll be adding two more Motorola handsets to their rugged lineup: the Renegade V950 (on right), and the i365 (on left). Both are iDen/Direct Connect compatible, and meet mil-spec requirements for durability against blowing rain, dust, shock, and vibration. For military folk and construction workers, that means it’ll come out unscathed after a day on the field. For everyone else, that means it’ll make it through a night at the ...

Remember that Silver MOTO Q we mentioned had found its way into a few AT&T stores last week? Its made the jump to the land of the official, available immediately as an AT&T exclusive. As mentioned before, it’s pretty much a MOTO Q9h pre-flashed with Windows Mobile 6.1 and given a flashy silver makeover. Same quad-band radio, UMTS dual-band 3G, 2.0 megapixel camera — same everything else. If you’ve been lookin’ to grab a Q9h ...

As mentioned earlier, Bungie had one level from their upcoming “Mythic” map pack on display at PAX 08. Called “Assembly”, it’s a very Midship-esque Covenant themed map. I gave it a quick run through earlier today, trying to get as much of the level on video as possible while attempting to avoid firefights — not an easy task. Beside the sneak peak, Bungie had little else to say about the map pack.

I had the best spot in the house, standing on a nice sturdy chair staring down the 10x zoom lens of an HD camera from about 15 feet from the stage. Then the battery died on the camera and security kicked me off my chair, simultaneously. After egging the audience into rickrolling themselves, Jonathan brought Felicia Day (who, by the way, we’ll be spending a few minutes with tomorrow afternoon for a quick Q&A) of ...

You hear that rumble? Thats an army of geeks, gettin’ down so damn hard that the very walls around us were beginning to crumble. Okay, fine - it’s just a nasty bit of clipping caused by the compact-car sized subwoofers lining the edges of the stage. They were inescapable. Wherever we stood, it was like the subs were in our camera. Sounded amazing in person; on film, not quite as nice. Read on for impressions ...

I mentioned it in an earlier post, but as it all went down while I was in the middle of swappin’ out cameras, I missed getting this little gem on video. Fortunately, ye olde Tube of Yous has come through. To explain what you’re seeing: About halfway through his set, Coulton pushed an iDVD-built video menu to the concert hall’s projection screens. It had two items: one labeled “Play this one”, one labeled “Not this ...

EA Games pushes out an iPhone port Tetris, and sells it for $9.99. An independent developer goes and makes his own Tetris clone (as has been done on just about every single electronic device ever created since the dawn of man) called Tris and offers it for the world for free. This is all going to go perfectly smooth, right? Of course not. Tris’ developer Noah Witherspoon has received word from Apple legal that owners ...

While Windows users got a few days of exclusivity on the firmware 2.0.2 jailbreaking front with the release of QuickPwn, Mac users are now free to get in on the fun. The iPhone Dev Team released PwnageTool 2.0.3 this morning, which should be able to crack iPhones/iPod Touches running firmware 2.0.2. It comes pre-loaded with the most recent version of the Installer beta (b6) and German language support. While QuickPwn for Mac is still in ...

Though I still skate no better than the day I started, I’ve spent quite a few summers bombing hills and racking up scars. I honestly can not count how many guys I’ve met over the years totally set on starting their own board company, only to lose the dream before it really began; they’d draft up a dozen designs, get all their friends pumped — and then have absolutely no idea what to do next. ...

What would you rather pay for 200 megabytes of data while roaming international lands: $3993 dollars (204,800 kilobytes at a rate of $0.0195 per kilobyte, AT&Ts pay-per-kb rate), or a lump sum of 200 bucks per month? (Yeah, we know the only rational answer to that is “Screw that, both prices are ridiculous.”) AT&T today unveiled the details for two new international data packages for iPhone users: $119.99 for 100mb (1.19 per megabyte) or $199.99 ...

SCIENCE. When murmurs of the new iPhone’s purported subpar 3G performance made its way around to Sweden, a company called Bluetest decided to try and determine once and for all if we all just had a case of the crazies. They stuck an iPhone 3G into a $110,000 noise-free chamber along with a simulated base station, and tested communications in both directions. Then they did the same tests with a Sony Ericsson P1 and a ...

PhoneArena managed to get their hands on the manual for a new Motorola flip phone heading toward Verizon. Previously only known as the VU30, the handset has now been dubbed “Rapture”. Apparently someone at Motorola or Verizon thinks this phone is in line with the second coming of Jesus Christ. Of course, they could be using one of the other definitions - either way, probably not the smartest word to play etymologist with. Besides the ...
