As of last May, these were the 4 remaining rail options (View Larger Image) | Provided by Metro Here's one of the maps that will be seen at the upcoming Westside Extension meetings that Metro will be holding in September. Metro won't say what routes/alternatives have made the cut, but we do know this: the above map shows all four remaining subway possibilities from last May and all four might remain as possibilities. As for ...

Yesterday, the LA Times' editorial board endorsed the opposing side of Prop 8, which would ban gay marriage in California. They should neither wait for popular acceptance, nor be revoked because it is lacking."

The Travel Doctor published a list yesterday that compiles all the airports in the country that have free Wi-Fi, listed by state. According to the list, the closest airport to Los Angeles that serves up free wireless is Long Beach Airport. Across the state, ...

It's funny, everyone wants to stop the people from getting a chance to choose for themselves this November on the ballot. Yesterday, it was the LA County Board of Supervisors who denied putting a measure on the ballot that would let residents choose if they wanted an increased sales tax to provide massive funding for mostly public transit. Also this week, there was a Senate Bill that sought to take Prop 1, the high speed ...

LA County residents have been hearing all about a half-cent sales tax increase that we could be voting on in November at the ballot. It's a big could, depending on a state committee, but if it goes through and passed by voters, Metro would get an extra $30 to $40 billion over the next 30 years for transportation projects ("Subway to the Sea" being one of them). But today, to fix the state deficit, Gov. ...

Submitted and authored by Dan Collins Friday night at midnight (the witching hour), the final installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight vampire novels, Breaking Dawn, was released to the waiting arms of teenaged girls everywhere. And Vroman’s Bookstore was there to cash in, with themed events more flush with girl power than anything the Spice Girls have done since 1995. I started off at the Pasadena Vroman’s “Breaking Dawn Prom Party,” which looked like the high ...

The man behind Arthur Magazine, Jay Babcock, recently took the indie rag's operation to Brooklyn where he decided to resettle. Soundboard, the LA Times music blog, got a hold of him for a short interview. His answer to the first question, "what prompted the move to Brooklyn?", is quite a read: New York is just a more hospitable environment than L.A. ever has been or will be. L.A. is devolving quickly, and I think I ...
