Sorry for the late blog update - but we just didn't care too much about what just happened. But this is it: The MPA has decided we owe them 93 million SEK. In total together with Ifpi and APB they think we owe a total of 115 million SEK (~12 million EUR). We - on the other hand - know we don't owe them a single öre. In fact, they owe us a shitload of ...

More than 500 restaurants, shops and businesses reviewed by Citysearch are placing printed bar codes in their windows. People who have special software from Scanbuy Inc. loaded on their cell phones can simply take a picture of the code and their phone’s Internet browser will immediately take them to the restaurant’s corresponding Citysearch page. (via SFGate) No one wants to scan shit. In the same way that no one really wants to use a stylus ...

actually, this sounds really cool. it's going to happen, sooner or later. i've seen some pretty advanced barcodes with colored targets that enable cellphones to guide blind people to them, and when they get close enough, the data is read aloud. all sorts of applications.. hugely popular in japan already.

You may have known that holding the Option key down before activating the Advanced menu in iTunes yields the 'Convert to [format]...' (where [format] is the audio format you've chosen in iTunes' Preferences) menu item, which is useful for selecting a file on your computer to convert to your preferred audio format and adding it to iTunes. If in the Open dialog, however, you select your desired file(s) and then again hold Option before clicking the ...

There seems to be a mini-bitchmeme brewing, sparked by VC blogger Fred Wilson’s recent post about Disqus, which is the commenting system that I use on this blog and many others use as well. Why Fred decided to write about Disqus at this point I don’t know — maybe to give the company some free publicity, who knows. In any case, he listed three reasons why he thinks every blogger should use it, including: threaded ...

I, too, am a happy Disqus user. I had concerns about it, but having conversed with Daniel Ha, I'm no longer concerned.

I was never a member of the Boy Scouts myself, so my understanding of what they’re about is limited to what’s seeped in from popular culture, but this looks like a winning idea: Friday May 9, 2008 The Boy Scouts have joined the Open Source Community. The Boy Scouts of America National Council in Irving, TX has announced the release of their Open Source Initiative. The OSI Project represents a significant commitment by the Boy ...

This opinion piece by Ellen Malcolm, the head of EMILY's list is, well, kind of offensive. The gist of it is that Hillary should be permitted to remain in the race because she's a woman. Hmmm. That's an interesting argument. And a borderline sexist argument to boot. So you mean it would be okay to tell Hillary that the math isn't going to work out if she were a man? But because she's a woman, ...

Shared by Rex Pechler An interesting perspective on the new Google Reader features. A new feature that will be recognized as a tumblelog by the tiny fraction of the world’s inhabitants who might know what a tumblelog is, has been added to Google Reader. Wisely recognizing that tumblelog is a far-edge concept, Google chose not use such a term in announcing the feature on the Google Reader weblog. I would spend a sentence or two ...

Google Reader's new feature isn't, I think, aimed at Tumblr, but at del.icio.us.
