Image via Explorations Could it be that our markets continue to plummet because there is no sign to be found that our government has any intention of fixing the socialist flaws in our system? To the contrary, with the Democrat attempt to funnel money to ACORN in the bailout bill, and a looming Obama presidency, there is every sign that America is going Socialist. The Market is giving it’s vote of no confidence to the ...

Why does John McCain point an accusing finger of blame at others, while abusing the notion that he’s a maverick somehow more virtuous than everyone else? The Center for Responsive Politics, and additional research done by the NY Times, reported at CNN: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac employees have donated $126,349 of the approximately $390 million Barack Obama’s campaign has raised. McCain has received a total of $21,550 from Fannie and Freddie employees. “Directors, officers, ...

Is the Republican Party in general just too acrimonious to be taken seriously anymore in a time of grave crisis and concern? Like crying wolf one too many times, the Republican Party has too often ginned up fear of attacks, and slandered the Democratic Party as being too soft on defense, unable to handle the economy, and fiscally irresponsible. Over and over again, rather than engage the intelligence of Americans, the Republican Party has instead ...

I made this point below, but I'll make it again -- the snap polls completely short circuit the ability of the right-wing noise machine to ramp up the "our guy won because the Democrat sighed" b.s. It's hard for the right-wing pundits on the air to make the case that McCain won when the numbers are so starkly in opposition. This was particularly in display during the vice-presidential debate, when the enraptured Right wanted to ...

John McCain delivers yet another invective-filled stump speech, this one at a rally in New Mexico. He asks rhetorically: “Who is the real Barack Obama?” Someone shouts: “A terrorist!” The crowd cheers. McCain remains silent. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin is doing her part in Clearwater, Florida, telling a rally where reporters are herded away from the audience by campaign workers, that: “I was reading my copy of the New York Times the other day.” The crowd ...

Times could not be tougher for the John McCain-Sarah Palin punditocracy. It’s bad enough that the approval rating of George W. Bush, their hero of the last eight years, has reached a historic low. And, inconveniently for these Bubba-Bashers, Bill Clinton ended his second term with a robust 70 percent rating despite lying about sex. Or that the revolution fostered by Ronald Reagan, their hero of the last century, has been sacrificed at the altar ...

Everyone has their threshold. I’ve just reached mine. Thanks to AmericaBlog for pointing me to this and this. Also a hat tip to TPM Election Central. John “Country Last” McCain and Sarah Palin held some truly hate filled rallies on Monday. Here’s a montage from McCain’s hatefest 2008 During this rally, a McCain supporter answers the question posed by Senator Country Last, “Who is the real Barack Obama?” The unmistakable answer: terrorist! McCain says nothing. ...

CNN’s Political Ticker’s Fact Check’s conclusion: Verdict: False. There is no indication that Ayers and Obama are now “palling around,” or that they have had an ongoing relationship in the past three years. Also, there is nothing to suggest that Ayers is now involved in terrorist activity or that other Obama associates are. Go to the link to read it all.

It’s important to note that, in the flood of polls, the ones that can be most significant are those reflecting a trend or that show a huge shift — and a new poll shows a big shift in the battleground state of Minnesota: Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has opened up a commanding lead in Minnesota over Republican John McCain, according to a new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll. The poll, conducted last week among 1,084 ...

The November issue of Consumer Reports, the publication of the independent Consumers Union, contains their analysis of the health care proposals of John McCain and Barack Obama. As the magazine points out, “both plans lack key details.” But, considering what the candidates have said and filling in the blanks with plausible speculation based on the state plans on which Obama and McCain have based their announced programs, the magazine looks at how people in three ...

Todd Palin, a former member of the Alaska Independence Party, might well have seen America unlike his wife ...

Via Politico this graph from a story about the Dems shot at 60 seats in the Senate (emph mine): A poll out Friday shows Sen. Norm Coleman could now easily lose his Minnesota seat to comedian-turned-candidate Al Franken. A Colorado race that initially looked like a nail-biter has now broken decisively for the Democrats. A top official in the McCain camp told us Sen. Elizabeth Dole is virtually certain to lose in conservative North Carolina.

I think that Sarah Palin did OK last night, except for: Her misrepresentations and flat-out lies (taxes, votes on funding the Iraq war, etc.) Her lack of humanity and compassion (She did not miss a beat getting back to idolizing John McCain’s “maverickness” after Joe Biden choked recalling the loss of his wife and child in a horrible car accident).
