There was some major news from Flickr today on the inclusion of its three billionth photograph. That’s incredibly impressive but it got me thinking about how Flickr might have been different if Yahoo hadn’t snapped up the company for a reported $40-million in 2005. NASA is considering re-purposing its successful Cassini-Huygens probe to do something that it wasn't designed for, but is nonetheless amazing: searching for signs of life on Saturns frozen moon Enceladus. Back in July 2005 Cassini observed a huge plume of ice particles and water vapor shooting from the tiny moon, suggesting the possibility that there's a liquid ocean hiding beneath its surface. Now scientists are calling for the probe to be sent sailing through the ...

Raphael Borja posted a photo: I must admit, my favorite part of Italian football is watching Italian fans watch Italian football. Grown men grow aggravated near tears, their hands flailing as they spew poetic curse words with bittersweet gusto at an imaginary ref. This match was scoreless, so I didn't get to witness emotions of victory — only frustration.

It's all been about the EOS 5D Mark II and Nikon's D90 HD video recording options for the last few weeks, but owners of the Canon EOS 40D will be interested in this hack which lets the DSLR record video without a cable tether. And here's the video proof for that. The hack involves coding new software that locks up the mirror, which denies the camera the ability to autofocus... but the results speak for ...
