In February of this year I found myself on a cold and rainy day in Evian, at the behest of Microsoft at a international summit for CIO's. As a consequence of that presentation Microsoft in the US asked me if I would write a paper on the future of the mobile society. On Friday the paper was published for Microsoft CIO Community. I wrote in my openingWhen it comes to mobile telecommunications, it is often ...

It's open to question to what degree Barack Obama will actually assemble a "team of rivals" in his administration, but his admiration for the concept of a team of rivals as described by Doris Kearns Goodwin in her book of the same name is well documented. We'll all have to hope that Obama takes some of Goodwin's historical rivals as seriously as he takes her book. Matthew Pinsker, in the LA Times: Consider this inconvenient ...

Xtract have produced a new whitepaper. Using new social tools, consumers can decide, what information they want to reveal to the advertisers and what to keep private. For marketers and advertisers, this is a unique opportunity. They can concentrate on promoting their products and services to those who have already shown interest to them.I think that this will become a significant and mportant topic of discussion as data and its increasing use in marketing communications ...

The potential "Smallville" replacement "The Graysons," focusing on Dick Grayson and his family pre-Batman, has been scrapped, Variety reports. Apparently WB studio had Jeff Robinov had gave his blessing on the series -- only to take it away over the last couple of days. The reason? There is speculation that director Christopher Nolan, who has made it clear he doesn't want a Robin in his Batman movies, might have played a role. But Variety quotes ...

Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada sculpted a gargantuan portrait of Barack Obama on a beach in Spain out of gravel, sand and pebbles that is bigger than a football field, measuring 140 yards long by 80 yards wide. The 'EXPECTATION' project is described by the Cuban-born, NYC based artist as a "large ephemeral sand painting" designed so it could be seen from Google Earth. The oversized work was meant to convey both the "global impact" of the U.S. election ...

For those with the resources to install an elaborate home theater and/or automation system in their homes, an 8.4-inch control panel that costs more than most HDTVs may not seem excessive. Those deep-pocketed smart-home mavens will find a lot to like in the XP-8.4?for $3,350, they better?including built-in 802.11g Wi-Fi that lets the panel double as an Internet browsing and media streaming device. After the Miriodor photoshoot last Saturday, I spent the evening drinking and listening to music with Bernard and Nico - at Bern’s apartment. He’s into a big roots trip these days so we were knee deep in Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Les Paul. This last one was a revelation. We all know the historical contributions of Les Paul and the mythology surrounding him. But man…. the music. There’s some amazing stuff in his catalog ...
