There has been a lot of hype in mobile media circles about how the Summer Olympics are signaling a watershed moments in broadcasting and media access on the fly. According to Nielson, 23 per cent US and 17 per cent of UK mobile internet users will be tracking the games through their phone browser, and 45 % of US mobile video users will watch the Olympics on their handsets. Are those significant statistics and if ...

Interstellar Sugar - Suryummy from Suryummy on Vimeo. Friend of CDMo Suryummy shares this audiovisual motion sequence, imagining what the world would be like if you cooked … in … outer space. Good stuff. And no, The Frugal Gourmet hasn’t been dropping acid. (Suryummy does suggest that this could be Bowie with a cooking show, which I like.) But Suryummy does share his tools: Maya Adobe CS3 Particular Ableton Live Native Instruments Reaktor Native Instruments ...

This video was one of the amazing public mapping projects featured at this year's Center for Social Media's Beyond Broadcast 2008. Public Radio International President and CEO Aliza Miller created this video. She begins with the what's known in digital storytelling as the "dramatic" question: How does the news shape the way we see the world. How can maps shape the way we see the world? When I look at the mapping being done these ...

When I watch the video Ms. Miller made, a large part of my understanding of the story is a result of the multi media being used. Media is not digital because it's delivered via an electronic device; it's digital when it uses multiple medias. Not just the written word, not just the spoken word, not just taped talking heads, not just video or images, or informational graphics. It's the right combination of these. And that takes training.

Resolume Avenue 3 Introduction from Bart van der Ploeg on Vimeo. With a new generation of visual apps, we’ll soon see if software innovation can help live visualism spread through the larger performance scene. One of the tools to watch has been Resolume 3, and it’s a secret no more. We knew Resolume 3’s release would make a big splash, if for no other reason than its loyal (PC-only) audience. The older Resolume 2 was ...

Resolume Avenue 3 Introduction from Bart van der Ploeg on Vimeo. If you’re interested in audiovisual performance as well as audio, here’s an app to keep an eye on. Resolume “Avenue” 3, announced today, is a ground-up rebuild of a popular VJ app. Now, things like GPU-native video may not mean much to the musical readers of this site. But how about features like this? Beat-synced audio triggering alongside video – using the soundtrack inside ...

I recently took another look at Organic City, a project launched in 2006 to provide residents of Oakland, California with a place to listen to and share stories about happenings in their respective neighborhoods or to take audio and video tours of the city - all created by locals. The stories are tagged to specific locations in the city via a Google map, and the site also offers a special mobile version allowing stories to ...

Aquesta mancança ve corregida en part per la continuïtat que hom té amb els tutorials que els professors del taller han elaborat ...

vvvv, the free-for-non-commercial-use patching environment on Windows, already has a cult following among visualists. Now, it’s looking more interesting for music, too, with the 4.0 beta 17 release. Labels and artists are only now catching on to the idea of letting fans remix their music, and are even slower to give those fans access to individual stems. But where musicians have embraced this idea, they’ve gotten surprisingly big outpourings of support — thank a culture that’s gotten savvy with digital music tools and consumes more music than ever. While that change continues to spread slowly, though, audiovisual remixing could already have a jump ...
