We do not know if Sherlock Holmes had the customary stomach troubles related to his opium habit, but if he did, we'd like to think that such problems were reasoned out into this "Ms. Hudson" pipe shaped commode. The winner of a recent Russian bathroom design contest, this particular toilet seems to have to advantages over a normal toilet, except that if you lean back into the seat it might flush automatically. And why we ...

Bathroom technology has taken yet another leap forward my friends. Hot on the heels of the news that toilet paper researchers have discovered the mythical 3-ply tissue holy grail, the Japanese have developed a simple but effective one-handed TP dispenser called the "Korobe-Kun". The main purpose of the device is to help elderly individuals who lack manual dexterity in their hands, but it seems to me that the design is far better than standard dispensers ...

Its name is Mrs. Hudson. Yes she has a name. The design was inspired by a modified water drop, whatever that means. I’m seeing more smoking pipe tho, but hey, it recently won a Russian bathroom design contest sponsored by Roca so it must be good. I just wonder who Mrs. Hudson is and if she knows a loo was named after her. Designer: 2-B-2 Architecture 2 B 2 Architecture

After our post on the hideaway sink ran two weeks ago, we received an email from one of our readers asking us if we had seen the Vertabrae® bathroom system. We hadn’t yet seen it, and we thought you might want to see it too. The Vertabrae system is an incredibly compact and vertical bathroom unit that houses just about everything you need in your bathroom. The design is by Paul Hernon of Design Odyssey ...

Why put your very expensive aquarium out in the living room where everyone can see it? That's just silly. What you should do is stick it in the backroom so you can admire it while you're sitting on the toilet or brushing your teeth. That makes much more sense! Especially for $4,700, which is how much this ridiculous aquarium sink costs. You can open it up on either side under the soap dish, which, if ...

Su Casa member Erin84 recently gave the "ugly 70's-style bathroom" in her new condo a major overhaul, and the transformation is a vast improvement. She gutted the space, and then "used subway tiles on the floor and ceramic tiles on the walls." She says, "A new vanity and chandelier make it look like a completely different space." While the original bathroom may not be the biggest eyesore you've ever seen, the new vanity and tiles ...

James Dyson "is a man who likes to make things work better." He is sort of the Steve Jobs of industrial design, looking at problems and coming up with elegant and effective solutions. The airblade is like that; it uses 80% less energy than a conventional electric hand dryer and wipes the water off your hands in twelve seconds, using air travelling at 400mph. I had seen it on TreeHugger before but never tried one; ...

Better Homes and Garden has some interesting ideas for small bathrooms. Among the many ideas is the hideaway sink (pictured). The sink pulls out of the wall only when needed. The ideas presented in the article can make your bathroom look and feel larger without having to knock out walls or add onto your home’s size. I have yet to adjust to a smaller shared bathroom in our new home and many of these ideas ...

Filed under: Gaming On a serious note, we're telling ourselves that there's just no way this happens in even a meaningful amount of Gamestop locations, but more than anything, the video waiting just after the break is for chuckles and chuckles alone. Apparently, one quick-thinking videographer-to-be captured a few stacks of Xbox 360s and PS3s in the store bathroom. Yes, the store bathroom. So the Gamestop-sourced console you're playing on right now could have all ...

I always wash my hands after I go to the bathroom. I notice when people don’t, and I never shake their hands. However, I have noticed some guys wash their hands before they drain the main vein. I heard that they do it because the penis is clean and the hands are not. After they got out of the shower they put on clean clothes and their “lady killer” is safe and clean in their ...

The new Cristalli glass tub from Novellini is something really modern, with a clean and minimalistic look. From the Elysium collection, the tub is European design for chic, city-living types with an eye for the newest trends. Some people might say that this bathtub is not something for their bathroom, because it’s fully transparent and this might be an intimacy problem. Anyway for those people who can ignore this minor “problem” this bathtub is a ...

We don’t think of urinals as objects of beauty. Even the most beautiful designs from top designers all succumb to this fact - you piss on it. Designer Sun Young Jung thinks she can change how we think of urinals. Her urinal has a flower in it, not a real one but you do piss on it. The flower is supposed to invoke beauty, move you like poetry, and make draining the snake a more ...

I fail at managing laundry. I have way too many clothes. When I am ready to wash, it’s an all day affair dragging heavy baskets to and from the washer/dryer. I’m not saying I’m too busy or lazy. I just want a simpler solution and I think designer Guopeng Liang is on to something with his iBasket concept. It’s a hamper/washer/dryer. After you fill it up, an automatic wash and dry cycle initiates. It’s even ...

The Tetris tile pattern is incredibly pleasing right before four rows collapse in on themselves: a hodge-podge of brightly colored, four-cell pieces, stacked upon one another with the utmost symmetry. Unfortunately, taken from the monochromatic peasoup of a GameBoy screen and into the real world, the pattern rarely satisfies: imbued into a cloth pattern or ice cube tray, the Tetris pattern becomes too difficult to mass produce, and so short cuts are taken: three- or ...

Inspired by the world’s most popular game here is a very alternative to the old fashioned and boring tiles. Just like the game, it’s up to you to interlock them to fill in every single spot. They come in just about every color under the sun, and are made from fine Italian ceramic. Tetris Tiles were created by a London company that believed tiled walls should be more interesting than just stupid little cubes. No ...
