Find the iPhone App Store a little overwhelming? Apple has the answer. The company has launched a section of its site called “iPhone Your Life“, wherein Apple has hand-selected the best iPhone apps for different lifestyles: Around Town, World Travel, At Home, Getting Things Done, Fun and Games. A handy reference, we think, for finding your way in the sea of iPhone apps now available. The iPhone as a lifestyle brand, though? We think Conan ...

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro. I can not say enough good things about the laptop. It is solid, fast and stable. One of the new features was the mini DisplayPort. It is this "feature" which causes the problem. I recently sat down to watch a movie on my Apple Cinema Display. This movie was freshly purchased from the iTunes store. I click play and what do I see? A black screen and en ...

If you haven't visited a Starbucks in the last couple of weeks, then maybe you didn't know that they now have a gold card. Not just a rewards cards that gets you a free cup after you purchase a kabillion of cups - but actual benefits. Like 10% off most purchases, a free cup of coffee on your birthday, and 2 hours of FREE WIFI every day. This is a great idea. Charge a $25 annual ...

Where Can I Sign Up To Help With The Testing? Beer drinkers might actually have something to celebrate about. Scientists at Rice University have created a beer that could extend your life. They have named the beverage BioBeer, and the way it works is that it has three genes spliced into a specific brewer’s yeast that produces resveratrol, which is a chemical in red wine thought to protect against diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s and other age-related ...

I recently came upon these turn-of-the-century envelopes with illustrations of product packaging. (And what is an envelope, after all, if not a type of package?) I’€™m no philatelist, but looking into it a little bit, I’€™ve learned that, in the world of stamp collecting, envelopes are called “€œcovers”€ and that the 25 covers pictured here are called “€œillustrated advertising covers.”€ Moreover, the return address & promotional graphics in each of these, is referred to as ...

The three cabinet positions that will define the Obama administration are Treasury, State and Defense. The first name floated for Treasury is Larry Summers. This would be a disaster. If one thing Obama promised to end was Clintonomics, as represented by Bob Rubin and Larry Summers. The notion of a “Restoration” was soundly rejected in the Democratic Primaries. Summers would be the same old crowd with the same old coddling of Wall Street. These guys ...

I don't know the players at the top of the Democratic economics establishment, but I've come to respect the opinions of Jon Taplin. If Taplin says Summers is a mistake, that's probably good enough for me. Josh Marshall thinks Summers would be a blunder, too, btw.

Like Jarritos, Mundet is a fruit-flavored Mexican soda. Unlike Jarritos, they have so far retained their ACL “applied color label.” Original Sidral Mundet[1] is a red apple soda, but more recently they came out with this less sweet, green apple version. (See both together here) Appreciate the spare label design, but—(like this guy)—I would really like to understand the logo shape. Is it representational? The lip of a bottle? An open mouth with a tongue? ...
