I Am Colin is a new brand out of the UK which has got some great new designs, I love the underpants and cross bones, that is just genius They have a distinct British accent to their humor and there are what you might call little Anglophilic easter eggs on their site and in their designs. From a design standpoint it really looks like these guys are paying attention to nice details and trying to ...

Forces of common sense are making a last-ditch stand in Britain today. Earlier this year, the British government announced its intention to “upgrade” marijuana from “Class C,” the lowest category of illicit drugs, where it’s been since 2004, to “Class B”: drugs considered more dangerous and subject to stiffer penalties. The move directly contradicted the advice of the government’s official scientific advisers, the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. Today, a last-ditch effort to ...

Super Street Fighter II HD Delayed In The UK - Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix will be out this week on Xbox Live Arcade. And in the US, it'll also be out on the PlayStation Network. But the UK? No dice. A Capcom rep has told Edge that, when it comes to the PS3, the game "will not be released in the UK this week and has no official release date". No official ...

Meet Raymond Adams. Raymond is 37, and dating 33 year-old "Julie" (obviously not her real name). When they met, Raymond was fat. Very fat. And Julie felt she was lacking in the chesticle department. So it's a feel-good story that, after spending ₤10,000, Raymond is now thin and "Julie" has a spanking new pair of norgs, yes? No! You see, Raymond didn't raise the money through legitimate means. He was running a "shop" called Midland ...

Image from garryknight It's amazing what an Olympic victory can do for a country's cycling fervor. Yes, as noted by The Times' transport correspondent, Ben Webster, the British are in the midst of a cycling revival of sorts -- fueled as much by the recent hikes in energy prices as by their team's epic haul at the Beijing Olympics. The squad, which boasted two Olympic track cycling champions and a BMX wor...

As a kid I was rather um… demonic. I remember we would dig through our garden and pull out all the earthworms. We would rip them from the ground and keep them in a big white Tupperware bowl of my mom’s. We’d mix them up like it was pasta noodles and we were having spaghetti for dinner. After a good rain, we would go outside in our rubber boots to stomp on the worms that ...

Someone leaked the membership list of the far-right British National Party. Someone else took the list and created a neat Google Map that shows where all the members live in the UK. Zoom out for a heat map of British fascism. The repercussions of the leaked list include the police force scanning the list looking for officers who are members (apparently that's not allowed) and some people claiming they shouldn't have been on the list.

Filed under: Displays If you're in the market for a reasonably sized, widescreen flat panel monitor, Dell just added one more choice to the platter. The SP2309W, which we saw officially announced back in September, is now available on the company's site. The screen boasts a 2048 x 1152 resolution, 300 nits of eye-searing brightness, a 80,000:1 contrast ratio, and all the DVI, HDMI and VGA ports you could ever need (well, one of each ...

Amazon just made it’s CloudFront service public and in time-honored tradition RightScale offers full support for the new service in its dashboard. You can read Jeff Barr’s announcement and Werner’s blog post for the details. I must say that the folks at AWS have been very consistent in listening to users and reacting to it: many, many users of S3, the Simple Storage Service, have been serving up web assets directly from S3 as if ...

Is presumed consent the way to go? ORGAN donations save millions of lives every year, but too many people die because there are not enough healthy organs available in time. Gordon Brown has just waded into this dicey issue in Britain, where an estimated 8-9,000 people require transplants annually, by suggesting that he may back a policy of "presumed consent" for organ donations if the rate of voluntary donations does not increase. At the moment, ...

BBC [May 2001] - A new study suggests the use of handguns in crime rose by 40% in the two years after the weapons were banned. The research, commissioned by the Countryside Alliance's Campaign for Shooting, has concluded that existing laws are targeting legitimate users of firearms rather than criminals. The ban on ownership of handguns was introduced in 1997 as a result of the Dunblane massacre, when Thomas Hamilton opened fire at a primary ...
