I suspected some design when the Justice Nanavati Commission submitted only a part of the inquiry report on what was known as the Godhara incident. I could see the contents written on the face of a gleeful Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in a photograph at the time of the report’s presentation. It was clear that Modi had been exonerated. Was it necessary for Justice Nanavati to suggest this or even release a part of ...

A probable reason for the Godhra altercation, Nanavati rejected Sophia Bano’s attempted abduction testimony. AJIT SAHI meets her in Vadodara IT HAD all started with her, or so Justice Nanavati doesn’t believe. Sophia Bano SB Dhantia was to travel home to Vadodara on February 27, 2002 after Eid holidays when a coach of the Sabarmati Express was set afire, killing 59 occupants just outside Godhra’s railway station, 80 km from here. Sophia, then 19 and ...

Paragraph 229 (Mukul Sinha) (1) 229 may be a number that Narendra Modi would like to wear on his shirt sleeves as a lucky talisman. Of the 230 paragraphs that the Commission of Inquiry Chaired by Justice G.T.Nanavati devoted to the unraveling the “conspiracy to set the S/6 coach on fire”, the paragraph 229 absolved the Chief Minister, other Ministers and even the Police officers from any role or lapse in the Godhra incident or ...

The Nanavati Commission’s findings on Godhra said that 140 litres of petrol were poured into the S6 compartment of Sabarmati Express to set it on fire at the Godhra railway station. However, official injury reports of 70 survivors of the coach S6 fire show that most burn injuries were above the waist. So could the injuries have happened above the waist if 140 litres of petrol were poured on the floor of the coach? Income ...

Photo from UTEP Don Haskins was the basketball coach of Western Texas University (which later became University of Texas at El Paso). Don was the first coach that had the guts to do what he knew was best for the team and field the 5 best starters. What was radical in his case was that they were all black. This was back in 1966 when I was a little boy. I know that because of ...

United Airlines is obviously not to familiar with the dollar menu at McDonald's because they're convinced that you'll pay up to $9 for their "Buy-On-Board" snack offerings, says the Wall Street Journal. The snacks, which include "fresh sandwiches, salads, snack boxes or snacks, depending on the length of flight," will be complimentary for travelers in Business Class and cost coach fliers from $6 for "shelf stable items" to $9 for fresh items such as salads ...

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that United Airlines will no longer offer free snacks in coach starting September 2nd. They are also dropping complimentary meals in business class except for "premium transcontinental flights from San Francisco and Los Angeles to New York." Shockingly, this move coincides with the airlines' expansion of their "buy-on-board" food offerings, says the Chronicle. The adjustments are outlined in an internal United Airlines memo that was distributed to flight attendants ...

When US Airways announced that they would no longer be offering complimentary beverages in coach, we wondered how long it would take before other airlines ditched the free stuff. So far, none have, and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), has denounced the move, calling US Airways planes "flying vending machines." The flight attendants say that not only does this "nickel and dime" approach turn flight attendants into "cashiers," it could cause an already irritated ...

The personal productivity niche on the Web has grown by leaps and bounds since Lifehack launched only a few years ago. While a few sites dominate the rankings, there are lots and lots of lesser-known sites that are as good or even better than the “A-list” productivity blogs. Most of them are solo operations — the GTD newbie documenting his or her quest for greater control over their life, the coach or consultant sharing his ...

Here are some questions that come up again and again: Do we need a coach? Do we really need a ScrumMaster? How much time should a ScrumMaster give a team? How good do they need to be? Will we always need one?I am a coach, so perhaps I am biased.Still, bear with me as we look at a recent example, and see if we learn anything.Earlier this week the Kansas Jayhawks won the NCAA Men's ...
