There has been a small buzz going around in the social media community pertaining to the quality of relationships being built online. What is the difference between on online friendship compared to an off line friendship? Can you build genuine relationships online? I recently found a video from Gary Vaynerchuk via the ProBlogger post called, How To Get Noticed [The Art of Positioning]. In the video Gary talks about the importance of connecting to people ...

Jason and Vonetta Storbakken have extended a gracious and hopeful invitation to public dialogue about reconciliation's challenge for New Monasticism. I'd like to say in public what I've already said to them privately: Thank you. I'm grateful not only that they have named an issue that we need to continue to grapple with, but that they have modeled the power of God to move us beyond race to a new identity in Jesus Christ. It ...

In addition to the steps mentioned in my previous post, I also wanted to share some things that go beyond our local community to the broader New Monastic movement and my role in it. As I said before, I don't want to give any impression that we've figured this out, or to boast "look at all I'm doing!" It certainly has been difficult and not without much sweat, tears, and mistakes. But here goes: Countering ...

Part 1 covered Network Edition backup features, today’s snips apply to all editions. First among the lesser known additions: We recently provided the possibility for a nice performance boost to some environments by adding the ability to turn on batched indexing in ZCS 5.0.3 (you can even fine tune it at the localconfig, COS, and account level). We’re not talking about when you re-index an entire account here, this is a change to the index-as-received ...

I am pleased to announce that voting for DDD7 is now open! We had an exceptional response to the call for speakers, resulting in 96 submissions - thanks very much to all those who contributed! Now it’s up to the voting public, the community, the attendees, etc. to vote for 15 sessions that they would like to see on the agenda. We’ve increased the number of votes from 10 to 15 because of the large ...

It is Sunday around 3:40 in the afternoon. I have just come home from a baptism. This afternoon four VCC’ers were baptized in a pool with family and friends there to witness, pray and celebrate with them. Before I go on, let me back up about one year. Our home is located in a neighborhood in a suburb just north of the city of Seattle. I live in a cul-de-sac that is reflective of the ...

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been rolling a post around in my brain about how and why I choose to follow people on Twitter. I use Twitter as a business tool so my reasons for choosing who I follow are based on my own business goals of ...

Everyone can edit or add an overview of the website, its contact information, related domains, categories, logo, and so on. What are some small towns in the Adirondacks (NY)- with nice community, local food, and art? I am looking to spend a few months in the Adirnodacks and am searching for small towns that offer a nice sense of community: art, food, music, books, outdoor activities. Ideally not too touristy, but even that would be okay. All ideas are appreciated, and anything details about the places would be great! Thanks.
