You've read about the features, you saw the invites going out, but you might be wondering what, exactly, Google Voice could do for you. Here's our guide for the curious and uninvited on whether your phones need some Google juice. We're not going to explain every feature, quirk, and option in the Google Voice service, which is slowly giving out invites to those who request them. We've already taken a first look at Google Voice, ...

Had it for a while, and the only complaint is the occasional voice latency problem.

We're looking to answer the question we seem to hear most often from commenters, friends, tech pundits, and just about everyone: What would I get out of it?

Google Apps Sync, an Outlook plug-in that connects Google Apps accounts released earlier this month, has updated with a version that doesn't block Windows Desktop Search from indexing Outlook data, along with offering more control over auto-archiving and making it "more clear where data in other Outlook accounts is located." Existing Apps Sync installations should get an automatic update notice, while the IT curious can grab the fixed version now. [Google Enterprise Blog]

“Is there a way to send personalized bulk emails using Mozilla’s Thunderbird? That is sending mails to a group of people without each of them knowing about each other’s email address (without using BCC). Also, with each person having only his own mail address in the ‘To’ field.” I expected this question after my previous post - How to Send Personalized Mass Emails in Outlook. So, let me continue where I left off and do ...

I could have also titled this – Mail merge from Outlook. Because that’s exactly what this process is about. Mail merge is a powerful productivity feature of MS Word. Before I leap ahead, mail merge is used when we want to create several documents that are basically the same but where each document contains unique details. For example, a set of letters where the content is the same but the name, address or even the ...

My friend, Phil Burns, recently wrote a very rare blog post citing a discussion this morning at the monthly Utah CTO breakfast, hosted by another friend of mine, Phil Windley (former CTO of Utah). Burns stated his concerns with the “anti-Microsoft people” (which I am not, nor am I anti-Apple or anti-Linux) and the fact that they were complaining about how hard it was to automatically sync all your contacts, calendar, and mail on their ...

This morning, I woke up to find an inbox full of readers freaked out about Facebook friend suggestions. What's the big deal about that? Privacy-minded Facebook users can't figure out where these suggestions are coming from, and aren't happy with the possibilities. Dawn gave us some examples of friends that Facebook is suggesting for her: A couple of examples of people facebook has suggested to me (again, none of the addresses were imported to facebook) ...

Filed under: E-mail, Google Google's contact manager for Gmail has left a lot to be desired for a long time. For once thing, up until recently it didn't have fields for birth dates, web sites, or other information that might be stored in your other address books. But today Google added support for birthday and website information. Now when you import contacts in CSV format from Outlook, Outlook Express, Hotmail, or Yahoo, or vCard format ...

It already made its way into Google's stand-alone Contacts tool, but now Gmail supports a few extra fields that apps like Outlook and Apple Mail try to bring over (like birthdays and web sites), and improved importing from many sites and apps. If nothing else, that leaves the "Notes" field free for actual, you know, notes.

Windows only: Google Apps Sync is a new free utility from Google that syncs your Google Apps (Premier or Education edition) email, contacts, and calendar directly with Microsoft Outlook. With this move, Google's looking to compete more directly with Microsoft Exchange, the business standard for syncing Outlook's email, calendar, and contacts via the web.
