eBooks have gone mainstream, and right now the open ePub format is getting a lot of attention, being the iPad's book format of choice. Often overlooked in gadget-centric media is the fact that ePub is based on web standards, and therefore amenable to being rendered in the browser, sans plugins. Pure Javascript ePub readers are starting to crop up, and Keith Fahlgren has written about several of them: Just in the last few days, details ...

Personally, I was blown away by the iPad demo video. The hardware and the operating system are impressive. However, when I watched Steve Jobs’ full presentation and demo, I felt that the iBooks application, while beautiful, was missing some key features. Perhaps Apple is planning ...

The difference between Amazon and Apple is this: Amazon is very much in the ebook business to sell ebooks. They want you attached to their platform. That's why the Kindle Reader is ...

They overlook the obvious fact - they even state in their article, they're in the game to sell ebooks. They need to update their kindle app to work on the iPad and then every iPad becomes another potential client for the much bigger Kindle book store.

Since we're all going to get a lot more familiar with this format in the near future, we felt it would be a good time to ...
