As the Dow dropped another 400-plus points today and the state of our economy continues to plummet, the ills of this country seemed to cascade upon me today. As I mentioned in a previous post, I spent an hour or so today with Mike, the owner of my local coffee shop. We chatted about the need for Obama now, the auto bailouts and his sagging business. But at the end of our conversation I turned ...

All during the presidential campaign, candidates of both parties practically tripped over themselves declaring their support for America’s veterans and vowing to do all they could to support them. John McCain talk about the devastating financial problems that face some of the newest returning veterans, who find themselves readjusting to life, recovering from injuries - and facing foreclosure, the New York Times says. From the Times: ...

Today, Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories announced a new kit, the Meggy Jr RGB. Meggy is a development platform for handheld pixel games built around a 8x8 RGB LED matrix display and driven by an ATmega168 MCU. You can write your own games for it and use it through the Arduino dev environment. Nifty! A unique feature of Meggy Jr RGB is that it is designed to be mounted inside a "handle set" -- a wooden ...

The internet is a fast-paced environment. People can come to your website at any hour from a wide range of locations, each of them with different intentions or needs. Unlike physical retail stores, you can’t see who is coming in and browsing around. You don’t know much about the people reading you. How can we develop a rough profile of all these individuals? You already get a glimpse of them everyday when they interact with ...

Nearly 90% of the homeowners in Mountain House, CA owe more on their mortgages than their house is worth. The average homeowner is down by $122,000. What are they doing to cut back? No more dinners at Applebee's, buying 1 DVD a month instead of 50, canceling remodeling projects, and playing board games at home instead of going out to the movies, "But not Monopoly," reports NYT, "with its real estate theme, it reminds them ...

The American male’s obsession with the automobile is nurtured at a very young age. Driving - being able to get into a big shiny hunk of gears, pistons, metal and chrome, to take you wherever your heart ...
