I recently discovered kohina which streams 8/16 bit music straight from consoles like the commodore 64 and atari 2600. Now if you are a geek like me this is some awesome news as this has become my background music when I am at work and I am gonna get my fm transmitter out and see if I can stream from my phone to my car stereo which would be hellakool! Kohina is a free “just ...

One thing that I am fortunate of is to have gone to a school that required students to wear ties. I hated it at the time, but it is like riding a bike and you never forget how to do it. But for folks who can’t remember because they didn’t have to do it everyday, there is this: the How Tie from World Wide Fred, it comes complete with all the instructions that you need ...

Mathematics was not a subject that I dug in my formative years. This was largely due to a certain junior high school deputy principal, who was also the math teacher and something of a sadist with a penchant for corporal punishment. For me, this clock brings back bad memories, but if you feel the need to express your love for math, then it is a pretty cool way to do it and quite a cheap ...

Being frozen in carbonite would be a pretty cool way to serve out a prison sentence - just as long as your mind is not ticking away while you are in the deep freeze and your sentence not indefinite or at the hands of some overweight, sadistic space slug. Alas, I digress because the subject is cake albeit cake with the whole Han Solo carbonite theme going. I have no idea what flavor lurks under ...

I have loved Star Wars, and by Star Wars I mean the three real movies that came out when I was a lot younger than I am now. I don’t like Star Wars quite enough to wear a T-shirt, but I do understand that there are many people who do and for such people this top is bound to be hilarious. The Vader Project brings Star Wars and art together by taking artists thoughts and ideas and putting them on the helmet of the dark lord of the sith Darth Vader. From the images and tv spots I have seen it looks like an awesome exhibit. Hopefully some day I will get to catch it live. Here's something from 2004 worth bringing up again as it circulates the blogs. I am guessing that wedding bands featuring male and female 8P8C Ethernet connectors have a somewhat limited demand. I mean, sure I have met geeks that would be right into this, but never a pair of them, though the fact that they are sold out tells me that they do exist. For those that do want to confirm their geekiness and love ...

I have always been a big fan of the Atari 2600 and had planned on setting it up in our newly finished basement for people to play around with when they came over while watching tv or whatever. Today though I thought I wonder what it would be like on my 42 inch plasma with surround sound….well the answer is pretty sweet!!! I got it hooked up and in no time I was playing pac-man, ...

Geeky Clocks - The Retro Flip Clock Check out this geeky clock, the Retro Flip Clock. This clock is unique in that its mechanism is exposed for all to see. Notice how the plates rotate against a bent metal finger that releases them only when it is the next plate’s turn to fall. Watch the curious dance - the harmony of motors and gears. Here’s a video of it in action. The Retro Flip Clock ...

These periodic table rings are certainly expensive: a silver ring is $280, where as gold is $2,350 and platinum rings $6,6600. That means a full set will cost you anywhere between $2,240 and $52,800. That is a bit much for science geek bling. That said, I think that if the signet's designs were divorced from the ring's elemental composition and if the entire periodic table was opened up, some fun could be had. I imagine ...
