Real estate site Trulia and interactive media company 1020 Placecast have partnered up to deliver better targeted ads on Trulia, using location information and a number of other factors. When a user searches for real estate in a certain location on Trulia, Placecast adds its magic, using algorithms that add demographic, psychographic and geographic data points to the equation. The result, ideally, is a very precisely targeted advertisement. Or, as Alistair Goodman, CEO of Placecast, ...

Remember when Doris Kearns Goodwin and the rest of the elite media socialites took to the studios of Charlie Rose's show to portray the opponents of the bailout as wild-eyed leftists? Seems there's some serious bipartisan pushback going on (h/t Atrios): WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said Saturday that Congress was not told the truth about the bailout of the nation's financial system and should take back what is left of the $700 billion ...

One of the most exciting projects around is CouchDB. We’ve been playing with it for months, and we even used it in Speeqe for group chat logging. It is built like the Web; it scales like the Web; and it’s as cool as the Web. CouchDB is schema-less, eventually consistent, and speaks HTTP and JSON natively. One of the coolest pieces is the view layer, which uses MapReduce(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mapreduce) with map and reduce functions provided by ...

So, obviously I’m mostly just posting this video for the entertainment value (I think it’s the glasses). This robot is designed to replicate human speech as realistically as possible, employing a 19 DoF vocal system which includes lungs, vocal cords, tongue, velum, jaw, and lips. He makes sounds in exactly the same way you do, by making slight adjustments to all of these organs as air moves over them… He’s just not very good at ...

Best feature of the New Xbox Experience isn't avatars, or a new UI, it's the ability to install games to the console's HDD. It was - in our wildest dreams, anyway - meant to cut down on two of the 360's biggest problems: loud DVD drives, and long waits for load times/disc caching. But does it? Eurogamer put a number of games to the test and found that...results vary. Some games, like The Orange Box, ...
