Smashing Magazine (778) permalink
By Steven Snell When designing a custom theme or deciding on an already-existing theme, bloggers have a lot of factors to consider and there is no shortage of options, particularly for WordPress users. A growing number of blogs are moving away from traditional blog layouts in favor of magazine-style themes; however, the layout and presentation of content has a major impact on visitors and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Key Differences Magazine themes have a ...Shared by !&# (23) Adrian (7) alex johnson (3) Amit (16) Andy Beard (7) Anthony (29) Bananalope (8) Ben Rowe (11) Ben Shoemate (19) Brandon Ball (25) Brandon Eley (5) Brent the Closet Geek (31) Bryan Strawser (0) Cai Chen (942) Cathy (79) CelloGuerra (0) Chandoo (9) Charli Wag (26) chris (399) Chris L (20) chriscoyier (29) Christopher (47) Coolbox (22) craig (48) D&G (12) Da Bourz (18) daidy (0) Danny Korpan (5) Daryl Milne (2) davemac (13) Derek Edmond (81) Digg Boss (641) dobata (366) Dominic (1) Dominic Foster (297) Doug Stewart (28) edmarriner (9) edoardo (4) ehu4ever (80) Elmer Thomas (141) elsterama (35) Emon (9) Eric Blue (14) Erica (23) Erik Hersman (3) Ernst-Jan (6) Esteban (2) Ethan Kaplan (7) Fabio De Bernardi (1) fesja (13) flaminglacer (8) guy (596) History of Blogging (187) Ihar Mahaniok (5) ilyas (56) jaholbrook (5) Jason David Pelker (9) Jeremy Gordinier (9) Joe (64) Joel Villarini (4) John (3) John Wesley (71) Jon Phillips (10) jose (14) Joseph Rodgers (24) Josh Pigford (3) Justin (3) Karan (8) Kate (314) Kelablu (1) Kerry (31) Kevin Cao (16) Khürt Williams (1) Kristina (0) Kyle Fox (9) lance (7) Leena (1004) liamvictor (124) LUCCHINA (442) Marcel (23) Marcus P (3) Marston A, SugarStats (32) Max (1) Max Stanworth (49) Michael K Pate (0) Miguel Lopez (52) Mike Schinkel (17) Moe (4) mr_gadget (152) Mr. BabyMan (309) Mushin (51) Nahnu Bey (17) niepi (1) Nik Cubrilovic (0) Niklas Engdahl (1) Olivier Mourlevat (4) Pål Degerstrøm (27) paulo (29) Peter N (4) ProfVegas (167) Ram (61) Rami Taibah (418) Robert Cortez (11) Ruben Kenig (1) Rumble (14) SalehCoder (10) Sandy (2) Satya (8) Scott (19) Seb (0) Shana Albert (34) Shane (13) Shankar Ganesh (59) Spudsstuff (29) steve (17) Steve Nipper (2) Steven Bradley (9) StevieB (71) Sun Tzu (313) Taylor Davis (10) Thilo (8) Tibi Puiu (143) Timothy Aste (7) Timothy Greig (3) Todor Christov (31) Travis (24) tweez (37) Wayne (47) Wes Brown (11) wille (103) yakobusan (41) zoz (9) 이장 (36)Contribute comment -
Rotating Grid Illusion (27)

While working in 3d last year I discovered this optical illusion. A large grid seen rotating at a certain speed will appear to group itself into smaller grids, spinning independently. In this example, we see a central grid, and 3 or 4 orbiting it. Here there appear to be about 5 or 6 grids: at a lower frame-rate it looks almost like liquid. It appears the persistence of vision effect overrides our knowledge that this ...Shared by ali (178) bittin (184) Brandon M. Have you ever needed to add contours from PASDA and wondered why you can't? It is because they are in an ESRI Personal Geodatabase. Well I have a solution for you and here it is: Close Civil 3D before you start this process. The first thing you need to know is that a personal geodatabase requires a specific type of FDO .dll which is not included in your Civil 3D program. Not a bad thing ...Shared by Keith (20)Contribute comment -
GridMaker Script for PhotoShop (1)

Andrew Ingram's GridMaker is a brilliant script for Photoshop that can be used to automatically generate guides in your PSD. The script allows you to enter the series of columns that should be laid out both horizontally and vertically. Then you set the maximum dimensions for the canvas. To generate a Blueprint grid, for instance, you'd enter "30,10" to create a PSD with a series of repeating columns of alternating 30 pixel units and 10 ...Shared by Damien Bidmead (0)- Damien Bidmead said: sounds cool. by Sean Hodge Grid systems bring visual structure and balance to site design. As a tool grids are useful for organizing and presenting information. Used properly, they can enhance the user experience by creating predictable patterns for users to follow. From designer’s point of view they allow for an organized methodology for planning systematic layouts. After creating a well-structured and usable grid, consider allowing it to breath. A page without a grid is a usability ...Shared by Justin (19)Contribute comment
