We have written earlier on the Bell HTC Touch Pro’s exclusive UI, coded by the PointUI team. Microsoft’s Canadian PR team sent us a link to this video showing the street reaction to the UI. With comments like “being able to use it with gloves on is a real plus” and “I can attest that this keyboard is easier to use than the one on the iPhone” how can Bell go wrong ? Showing the ...

Having been accused of being biased against the Xperia X1, I thought I better try and balance the books a bit and note explicitly the areas where I think the Xperia is clearly ahead. These areas may in fact be the deal makers and deal breakers when it comes to choosing between the two. Firstly, the hand feel of the Xperia is definitely better, due to the slimmer, thinner and lighter design which is more ...

Many HTC Touch Pro users have complained about the HTC Touch Pro D-pad. Up and down works fine, but left, and especially right works pretty poorly, with accidental activation of the surrounding keys very common. Fortunately it seems there is a better way after all. The fortuitous destruction of a HTC Touch Pro has given us an inside look at the D-pad, and one sharp xda-developer suggested that instead of trying to press the rim ...

It looks like Sprint won't be the only carrier on the block with HTC Touch Pro (otherwise known as the HTC Fuze) if this photo obtained by BGR is the real deal. As you can see, it features the Fuze ready to go in its retail packaging. An earlier rumor speculated that October 23rd would be the drop date—obviously that day has come and gone, but let's hope the delay is about to be over. ...

HTC has always known their biggest weakness: Windows Mobile. They've done their best to hide the aged interface in glossy costumes and bolster performance, but they can only do so much—the OS is slow, buggy and can drain battery life on certain hardware. Luckily, Windows Mobile responds well to per-device modification. A dedicated community of hackers called XDA has built a collection of streamlined, debugged, turbocharged OS builds (or ROMs) to resuscitate your flagging HTC ...

Filed under: Cellphones We heard last week when Sprint launched the HTC Touch Pro at "select national retailers" that the device would be available online on November 2nd. Well, it's November 2nd, and they've kept their promise. The base retail price of the QWERTY smartphone is $579.99, but an "instant savings" of $180 combined with a $100 mail-in-rebate brings the price down to palatable $299.99 (with a 2-year agreement, needless to say). Of course, if ...

We have seen many pictures of the HTC Fuze, AT&T’s version of the HTC Touch Pro, but they have never been of very good quality. This single picture which showed up on xda-developers show the Fuze will have same faceted back as the HTC Touch Pro, rather than the flat back as seen on the Sprint Touch Pro. Whether this will be seen as a blessing or a curse will be up to personal opinion.

The rumors, they are true—Sprint's HTC Touch Pro, originally set to drop on Oct. 19, has been delayed until at least the end of the month, and possibly into November. Apparently it's an issue of making sure they have enough to go around. Oddly, it seems like Sprint stores and their online shop will get the phone after "select national retailers" (i.e., Best Buy). "Sprint expects to slightly delay launch of the Touch Pro by ...

Here is that video promised earlier. The Touch Pro feels great in the hand, and certainly does not feel as chunky as it looks. I well spend the next hour moving my apps and data from my Kaiser and then use it as my main device for the next few weeks. I shall report back regularly on its adequacy as a replacement.
