Ben Goldacre The Guardian Saturday November 29 2008 As usual, it’s not Watergate, it’s just slightly irritating. “Down’s births increase in a caring Britain”, said the Times: “More babies are being born with Down’s syndrome as parents feel increasingly that society is a more welcoming place for children with the condition.” That’s beautiful. “More mothers are choosing to [...]

"INM must scrap printing in favour of uploading," argues the media commentator Roy Greenslade. "It will save trees, save ink, wipe out all production costs and eliminate the expense of distribution. It will enable INM to prune its marketing budget. In so doing, the paper will take a giant step into the digital age."

One of the movies I’ve been looking forward to is Superbad director Greg Mottola’s Adventureland coming of age film based on his own experiences at the Long Island amusement park. Set in 1987, the film follows James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg), an uptight recent college grad forced to take a minimum wage job at an amusement park when he realizes he can’t afford his dream tour of Europe. Writer/director Greg Mottola – best known as the ...

As originally published in The New Republican Click here to discuss On Election Night, a Democrat, in his late 40s, wins the Presidency. His party wins majorities in the House and Senate. Conservatism is thought dead. Political pundits predict that the Republicans will need to wait a long while before vying for the Presidency again. President Bill Clinton was this Democrat in 1992. In 2008, Barack Obama followed suit. Although much speculation surrounds the next ...

Fox Searchight has finally released a movie trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. You’ve heard the buzz, Mickey Rourke’s performance is Oscar worthy. The Wrestler is, without a doubt, one of the best films of this year. I’m confident that it will grace many critic top 10’s come late December. The music track that Bruce Springstein wrote for the film is used front and center, and it is really amazing how well it works over ...

It didn't take long for Xenophon to show his populist colours. But now we have a very big problem (well aside from the major issues challenging Australia and the world), there are two populist Senators posing as heroes for the little guy and the down-trodden. Where they stand on a range of issues is still unclear other than they stand up for the little guy and the down-trodden.
