To mark 1000 posts on this blog, I thought I’d reflect on what I’ve learned since post #1. Blogging is not ‘writing a blog’. Blogging is linking and commenting. Any writing is a bonus. Regular posting is important… But quality posting is even more important. Spending a week or more on a single post can be one of the most important things you ever do. First knowledge, then analysis, then ideas. A picture is worth ...

Since Google acquired Jaiku in October 2007, people had high hopes for Jaiku. However, nothing much has really happened and Jaiku was made invite only. {For anyone who don’t know what Jaiku is, it is a micro-blogging site similar to Twitter. It has a comment feature instead of replies and better media sharing features.} But today, things are happening at Jaiku once again and most notably they are offering unlimited invites. If you would like ...

CrunchBase Information Jaiku Twitter Information provided by CrunchBase

Microblogging service Jaiku is suddenly showing signs of life again - for the first time since its acquisition by Google back in January. After a few days offline, they returned with a blog entry and a couple of announcements: Jaiku is now running in one of Google’s data centers (though apparently the long-promised port to App Engine is not yet done), and they’ve opened up invitations. Though there’s still no open signup, any Jaiku member ...

Things have been quiet over at Jaiku since its acquisition by Google last Fall.

As Paul noted this weekend, Jaiku was completely down for scheduled maintenance over the weekend, with very little explanation other than it was a good time to go speak with a loved one. A lot was made of this by the few left in the blogosphere who use the service to fill their status microblogging needs, particularly how interesting it was that a Twitter-ish bird was doing the downtime notice, and how insulting it was ...

Something Mack Collier just said rang a bell in my head: Technorati doesn’t count services like Twitter, Friendfeed, Plurk, Identi.ca, etc, as valid sources of traffic for a blog. Meaning, for the dozens of people who say that they find something interesting and share the link on Twitter, none of that goes towards whether a blog is authoritative. Does that actually make sense? If we’re shifting as a user base into using services like Facebook, ...

Jaiku is officially back online within the last couple hours. Jaiku has been offline since Saturday for the move to Google's servers, which was originally suppose to take only the weekend. Apparantly Jaiku took a cue from Flickr with its massages and upped the ante with a short vacation. To make it up to us, Jaiku has lifted the limit on invites. In the spirit of forgiveness for a longer than expected hiatus I'll give ...

Jaiku has found its way back online, now hosted at the Google datacenters, but not within the Google Apps Engine as was rumored. From the official blog post: We’ve now moved Jaiku to a Google data center. This is something that we’d planned to do anyway, as part of our future transition to Google App Engine. Jaiku is still running its original engine, however, there are some news, like a new TOS and unlimited invites. ...

The Google owned microblogging service Jaiku is back after an extended weekend outage, and a year of epic fails on the social side, having blocked new signups since it was acquired. There’s no dramatic change evident on the site, although there was reports that Jaiku was switching to Google Gears. The noticeable difference is that new users are able to sign up to Jaiku via unlimited invites from existing users, but it’s not exactly open ...

Jaiku is down right now, but it might be a good thing that it is. Jaiku Invites blog reports that Google is moving the microblogging service that could have been a serious Twitter contender to the Google Apps cloud setup. This could mean a number of thing, one being that we’ll soon be able to get internal Jaiku-ish communication within Google Apps, but the most prominent result of this should be better uptime. It is ...
