Summary: While Google’s new SearchWiki won’t be an immediate benefit to lawyers, it may help them understand the value of commenting on and promoting content, which may lead them to want the same functionality inside the law firm. Google announced SearchWiki on November 20, 2008. Simply put, SearchWiki is not a wiki. It is an add-on to the standard Google search function that allows you to mark search results as favorites and make a free-form ...

You get what you measure. This isn't news -- first you decide what you want to achieve and then you design your metrics to let you know when you've arrived. That's good practice and it's the message of my earlier post, The Metrics Mess. Simple stuff, right? Wrong. You'd be amazed how often folks misunderstand where true success lies and, therefore, collect metrics that drive them in the wrong direction.Let's take the example of the ...

This past Thursday and Friday I attended and presented at our fall 2008 Oklahoma Distance Learning Association (ODLA) conference. The Village Voice did a great job covering Obama + Art custom show. They compiled a bunch of images from the exhibit (45 to be exact) showing the various customized Obama action figures. A definite must-see!

In its first quarter as a combined company, Activision Blizzard raked in $711 million for the three month period ending in September, the publisher announced today. That's a big take prior to the holidays and bigger than the projected outlook, but still resulted in a loss of $194 million for the company. Acti-Blizz CEO Bobby Kotick pointed to titles such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: On Tour, World ...

Word reaches me from my nemesis and arch-rival for the hearts and minds of all right-thinking Copenhagians, Allan Jenkins, that a Demos report robustly suggests that companies pull their flamin’ heads in and embrace social technology. Says Jenko: "Companies should not dismiss staff who use social networking sites such as Facebook and Bebo at work as merely time-wasters, a Demos study suggests. Attempts to control employees’ use of such software could damage firms in the ...

Sarah Palin unwittingly took a prank call yesterday from a Canadian comedian posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and telling her she would make a good president someday. "Maybe in eight years," replied a laughing Palin. The Republican vice presidential nominee discusses politics, the perils of hunting with Vice President Dick Cheney, and Sarkozy's "beautiful wife," in a recording of the call released yesterday and set to air tomorrow on a Quebec radio station.
