After losing all that it had planned to achieve, Google’s virtual world had met its death with the number of users decaying into nothingness. However in order to save the prized world from a total annihilation, Google had earlier decided to turn the virtual world open to all developers. In the latest reports, Google has decided to turn Lively into an online gaming platform, something that can very well save it from total eradication. According ...

Nella vostra vita (reale) avrete sicuramente provato o sentito parlare di Second Life, ma come, no ? Bene, Second Life è un mondo virtuale creato, abitato e popolato dagli stessi utenti.

Chris Morris of Forbes magazine thinks that Google should try its luck at publishing video games. The search engine behemoth has put some serious research time into advertising within games and certainly has the resources to acquire a developer or three. As well as the rather ill-received virtual world Lively, the article points out that Google already has some technologies that could mix well with gaming. Google Earth could make a for an excellent flight ...

People (well, us) are starting to put a list together of Google products that don’t play nicely with Chrome, their new Windows-only browser. First up is Google Analytics, which will doesn’t track Chrome usage separately from Firefox (why Firefox?) for now, even though other services made the change immediately. Since Chrome is a two-year project and shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone at Google, the cynic in me thinks they to wait until they ...

Why not embed a 3D environment, let users create avatars, decorate a room, and chat with one another? The company has taken the wraps off of Lively, a 3D social networking/chat service that does just that. You ...

Google’s Lively geflopt. “What’s ...

Lively, Google's entry into the 3D-avatar chat market, has been neutered before its time, writes the Economist. But in the midst of the starchy business newspaper's tour of the service, its editors hit on the solution: "Although some popular rooms—“Love Sweet Love” and “Sexy Babes Club”—have had thousands of visitors, the number quickly drops into the double digits further down the list." It's obvious, yes? Even if your terms of service beat sex into submission, ...

Google launched its Virtual World ‘Lively’ last month with a hope of exploring new ways in the Web traits. With an abrupt growth in the number of 3D worlds, it was expected that the Internet Giant will definitely make the mark by attracting millions of users and fans. But the report by Economist reveals that it has flopped badly and despite of ‘Google’ name and fame in the Internet niche, it was unable to achieve ...

On the topic of what bits of the interface are still being tweaked, Young had this to say: Everything. Much of the GUI is not ...

The past few weeks have seen the release of Google Lively and Electric Sheep Company’s WebFlock. 3D environments have been around for years, with the initial attempts using VRML, an HTML like markup language. VRML was an interesting idea but had problems because the computers and typical network speeds for users made the environments too slow to be usable. Now, cable modems and dual-core processors remove the speed problems, but we have not seen many ...

Posted by Mr. March 這對 Second Life 來說真不是一個好消息。
