Given that JavaFX is Sun's multi-year, all-in, double-down, bet-the-farm attempt to compete with the likes of Microsoft Silverlight, I'm utterly flummoxed as to why Sun would ship Silverlight. With strategery like this, anyone still wondering why Sun's market cap is now probably darn close to or less than the value of their real estate and cash on hand?

Filed under: Cellphones, Handhelds As promised, Vodafone has officially announced a November delivery order date for its BlackBerry Storm -- November 14, to be specific. Pre-orders are being taken (as they are in the States), so if you want to be in the first batch of Brits to rock this thing, it might be a good idea to go ahead and get on a list lest the throngs of humanity trying to get one on ...

Virtual Worlds News: China Levies 20% Tax on Virtual Currencies. This is completely unsurprising — after all, levying tax on earnings made via selling virtual goods is something that the US does already (if you make money, they expect a cut, no matter where how how you made it) and it’s a lot more common in China than here. But there’s a wrinkle: The ruling applies to QQ coins and the like as well as ...

But OpenOffice isn’t far behind as well, with it’s version 3 just popping out from the oven this October. But what if now that you’re tired of making the same old presentations with the same old templates available on Microsoft Office? Well here comes SlideRocket to ...
