There are lots of reasons I have trouble sleeping… family issues, work plans, scary movies. But last night I found a new reason to toss and turn - anticipation. You see, last night my online group (United Nerd LifeGroup) that I have been part of for 6 weeks was issued a mighty challenge. More on that coming. We meet every Tuesday night at 9pm CST online. We’ve worked through the idea of being unplugged, not ...

As I mentioned in the last post, I am at the initial stages of writing a book on elementary computer vision. It makes sense at this point to provide a rationale for such a book. Current textbooks either have extensive prerequisites or take too long to get the student to use what’s been learned in real-life computer vision projects. Let’s consider an example. Suppose we know freshman or sophomore students in a technical discipline. They ...

Since ‘rational’ schemes of thought culminating in open contradiction, irrationalism and regression is one of the main themes of this blog, we have to cite some as it seems presently quite well-known remarks the Austrian journalist Klaus Emmerich produced in reference to Obama’s election, doing this we also recommend a selected list of European eruptions which were recently cited by the Washington post: In Austria, Obama’s win prompted a harsh, on-air reaction from a well-known ...

Worldwide Anger Brings MySpace To Their Knees: I originally posted about BJ McCombs here. BJ was the victim of a housefire when he was baby and wasn’t expected to live long but lived to be 7 years old. His parents made a tribute page for him on MySpace but his pictures were deleted because MySpace found them to be too graphic. Not surprisingly this caused an international uproar and MySpace has not only apologized but ...
