I wish my father had bought me a ROMP as a child. The Remotely Operated Mobile Platform, ROMP for short, is a remote control vehicle designed for military use. It can shoot stuff with a paintball gun, listen in on conversations, blow up IEDs and so much more. Think of it as a Radio Shack R/C car jacked up on Red Bull and creatine. The design was conceived by Chris Rogers and while his intentions ...

Dawn mission banner. Credit: NASA/JPL The Dawn spacecraft's three ion engines have done their work for now, and mission engineers shut down the frugal but powerful ion propulsion system on Thursday as scheduled. The spacecraft is now gliding toward a Mars flyby/gravity assist in February 2009. "Dawn has completed the thrusting it needs to use Mars for a gravity assist to help get us to Vesta," said Marc Rayman, Dawn's chief engineer from JPL "Dawn ...

My trip to the east coast has elicited much reflection & conversation about pastoring and starting new churches. I met with no less than 3 church planters while there and heard the glories and the “crap times” as one put it. I’m no church planting hotshot but i’ve got invaluable experience on several things that [...]

In light of the economic meltdown, the lectionary reading for this week is highly appropriate. Matthew 25:14-20 is the parable of the talents (refering to units of money rather than abilities or skills). It’s a story about investments, risks, and returns. Two of the employees did quite well in the markets, doubling their employer’s investments. But the third played it safe, and though he didn’t lose the money, he didn’t earn a return. The result ...

This past September I was invited by CEC ArtsLink to travel to Russia and stage an Improv Everywhere mission with local artists in the town of Petrozavodsk. Along with Kendal Henry from CEC, I worked with about 20 Russians through a small arts center in the town. We brainstormed ideas together and executed two missions during my trip. Below is the video of the first mission along with photos from the whole experience. (also available ...
