This sucks. Reed said 827,380 Maricopa County residents had requested absentee ballots or had voted early as of 2 p.m. Friday. The county has seen 566,656, or 68.4 percent, of those ballots returned. There are about 1.7 million registered voters in the county. Early ballots figure to create a significant delay in the compilation of final results. Officials expect that about 200,000 early ballots won't be marked or mailed early but instead will be walked ...

After getting snubbed once and making a mockery of Sen. John McCain for it, David Letterman wasn't going to back down last night in the slightest when the Republican presidential nominee showed up to try to make amends on The Late Show with David Letterman. No, no. Instead, Letterman came out swinging right from the first monologue joke, implying that all of the audience members in the balcony were Alaska state troopers fired by Gov. ...

About a week ago, Nokia has launched the 5800 XpressMusic, codenamed the Tube, and the handset was supposed to compete against the iPhone thanks to its big touchscreen. However, Nokia can’t possibly think that they can dethrone Apple’s iPhone as the Tube is not a smartphone. I’m aware that besides 3.2-inch 640×360 touchscreen, the 5800 XpressMusic also features GPS, WiFi, 3.2-megapixel camera, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, 8GB card, and an expandable MicroSD card slot. ...

Addressing some of our fact-check backlog -- wolkingsworld Tweeted early in the debate wondering about Biden's statement that Obama sounded the alarm two years ago about subprime mortgages. Our fantastic reference librarian Mary Glendinning found this from The IRE Journal March 2006 - April 2006 (a publication of Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc.): ...The reaction to our five-part series was swift. Citing the Tribune's report, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama called on the Senate Banking Committee ...

Are you one of those people who need something more to get you excited about the future of virtual worlds than, “I am in ur browser, chatting in 3D?” Well, perhaps, it is time for you to take a close look at the burgeoning open source ecosystem surrounding OpenSIm. Jonas Karlsson, Xerox, (avatar Poinky Malaprop) wrote an excellent post (I quote his great title above!) explaining why he is not turned on by the big ...
