Rhonda from MySpace says the network has had a spam infestation in its application profiles. So much so that it shut down the forum display. Complaints were coming in like crazy. Now users interested in “more exciting forums” are advised to carry on their conversations elsewhere for the time being. Free bulletins are suggested. How’s that suit you? At the risk of making an irate user base even more angry and loud, perhaps this is ...

LinkedIn and CNBC have announced a partnership today that unlike most of the hundreds of partnership announcements we see on a daily basis, seems to be something that actually impacts usability in a game-changing way. LinkedIn is, of course, the business based social network designed primarily to put together employers and workers. Of the many things I’ve always seen potential for in LinkedIn is as a source for information. One of the few bits of ...

Despite the reams of new job postings being released day in and day out, the treachery of the job search has been greatly facilitated with online engines and listing services. And specific to the tech sector, sites like Dice, and even various new media publications have really put strong emphasis on niche positions and connecting the seeking with the seekers. Still, having to browse multiple sites for something like a spot within a startup isn’t ...

A New York judge has rejected a lawsuit brought by the right-wing Christian group Alliance Defense Fund against New York Governor David Paterson, aimed to thwart his directive that New York state recognize same-sex marriages performed out-of-state: "In a ruling Tuesday, state Supreme Court Judge Lucy Billings said the policy is a 'permissible, if not mandated, step toward the objective of equality' for gays. Her finding comes as thousands of gay New Yorkers are expected ...

While autumn has not yet technically arrived, the television industry is already rolling out its seasonal debuts. Fox issued its first opener in the form of a two-hour Prison Break special on Labor Day in the US. And it’ll be in the latter half of October by the time most new series show up once more (or for the first time). In order to put some more color into its slightly tired archive, Hulu is ...

A two-year investigation has concluded that most Verizon FIOS installations fail to meet national safety standards, and could cause fires or electrocutions. FIOS is famous for house fires, but New York's Public Service Commission first started its investigation back in 2006 after several inspectors discovered improperly grounded installations. PSC staff said FiOS "may form an electrically conductive path" and could create an electrical hazard. PSC spokesman James Dean called the public safety risk "minimal - ...
