Three teens swiped a neighbors Wii and enlisted the help of a mother to pawn the stolen loot. Joshua Carter (18), Patrick Early (16) and Derrick Henson (13) have all been arrested on felony charges for stealing a neighbor's Wii. According to Early, his mother, 41-year-old Maxine Law, helped them unload the console at a local pawn shop — even though she knew it was stolen. The Florida state attorney's office is looking into the ...

Got one of those Texas Instruments graphing calculators? This nifty little program for TI-83+SE, TI-84+, and TI-84+SE calculators lets you play Nintendo Game Boy games instead of doing your math problems. Written by Brendan Fletcher (aka “calc84maniac”), TI-Boy SE is a Game Boy emulator that runs on TI’s Z-80 based graphing calculators thanks to similarities between the CPUs of the two systems. The emulator includes three zoom modes, two sprite tracking modes, grayscale or black-and-white ...

At first glance it's a little difficult to understand the necessity of another motion-sensing add-on. What could possibly be inside this particular block of white plastic that's not inside those other countless slabs of white plastic that Nintendo has already slathered on the Wii? Sure, we know in theory that the gyroscopes that MotionPlus provides allows the controller to truly orient itself in 3D space, instead of just sensing acceleration in various directions, and breaks ...

Hey, who doesn't have a desire to get down and nerdy with their Wii on occasion -- we respect that. But if you're going to pretend to hold the Wiimote like a lightsaber, you might as well go for the full-on, officially-licensed accessory. Oh, there are plenty of pretenders but nothing can feed your delusions of grandeur better than George Lucas' blessing. Yes, the lightsaber glows, and the cats at Bensussen Deutsch & Associates have ...

There have been plenty of cheap, crappy, plastic lightsabers for the Wii before, but now there are official cheap, crappy, plastic lightsabers for the Wii. Oh joy! Coming this fall, you'll have the opportunity to spend your hard-earned dollars on the official Star Wars Lightsaber and Clone Trooper Blaster accessories for the Nintendo Wii. No word on pricing, but they probably won't be all that expensive. After all, they're just hunks of plastic you clip ...

Nintendo's Metroid Prime collection for the Wii is due to land in North America on August 24th in a snazzy "collector's edition" form that bundles up three games, a Metroid Prime Trilogy art booklet, special metal packaging and more. By more, we really mean a paper sleeve in which to slide the Metroid Prime Trilogy tin in and out of. We could also mean all new presentation for two of those Metroid Prime games, which ...

We don't post about video game auctions very often here. When we do, it has to be something that's pretty amazing. This cardboard treasure trove of Zelda fits that bill. It's a box of sealed copies of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The original SNES release. Like the wounded body of 1992 heaved itself upon our doorstep and, with its final, dying breath, left us with its greatest treasure. There are ...

I'm sort of fascinated with the idea of augmented-reality gaming, video games that blend the real world with the fictional one in real-time. Here's a look at Ghostwire which has players using their DSi to hunt their surroundings for ghosts and then try to help them. I love the idea and the execution looks pretty cool, though it would be nice if they used animated ghosts as opposed to static images.

Favorite games from the 8-bit era and beyond, now with slick, Mac-friendly functionality wrapped around them. Here’s how it might look actually playing those games. Fans of vintage games with Macs, take note. Open Emu makes emulation of classic game systems a “first-class citizen” on the Mac. But if it were just a game emulator, well, it wouldn’t be news. What makes it news is that at its core, Open Emu is an open source ...

Sick of having to use your inconvenient mouse and keyboard to do "internet searches" for ROMs of your favorite retro games? The enterprising DIY'er has created a combo hardware and software solution that allows you to plug in your dusty carts directly to your rig, and see the ROMs appear as standalone files which you can ...

After that, you can play the ROM with your choice of emulator. We emailed [Matthias] asking for more information, and he quickly replied with a very nice writeup about ...

Some things seen can never be unseen. That's why we're sticking one man's NES controller—which he engraved into his flesh—after the jump. Body Modification Ezine member Metal_Games either really loves the NES or really hates himself. Because he went through an hour of barbaric scarification (in which a trained professional sliced away chunks of his skin) to make his leg Konami code compatible. From his account: The stencil went on, and we were ready to ...

The Wii just sat there, increasingly covered in dust, occasionally throbbing blue as ...

I wish these Mario, Koopa, Goomba, and Shroom 4GB USB thumb drives were actual Nintendo mass-produced products. That way I wouldn't have to spend $55 on each of them, but hey, they are handcrafted with love. The Mario Brick—which is available in one and six feet configurations—costs only $19, though. So nice indeed. [Etsy via Geeky Gadgets]
