I saw a character try to get into the embargoed hands-on Windows 7 sessions at PDC. This character was not invited, but yet he tried to get into the strictly invite-only event via what seemed to be tactics of deception with the staff and guards. The sessions were open to those who were a part of the Featured Communities program as well as some high-traffic journalists selected by the top brass of Microsoft. Randall Kennedy ...

Had a great couple hours yesterday talking with one of the pastors of the large church that helped launch Evergreen (by, uh, "releasing" me into ministry!) yesterday. It was an interview for a school project, and also a chance to catch up just a little... Good to talk about what's gone into the making of a community like evergreen and to have validated that yes, on many levels, it really is different. I think we ...

This is what the future of journalism looks like. (Well, part of it, at least.) Susan Gardner, an editor at Daily Kos — the liberal site that is equal parts news aggregator, activist hub, community builder, and advocacy journalism — was upset by recent reports that AIG was treating employees to lavish junkets while taxpayers were busy bailing them out. After she wrote a few posts on Daily Kos criticizing AIG, Peter Tulupman in AIG ...

I'm writing this from the 'big room' in the LA Convention Center. If you don't know, PDC is a HUGE conference Microsoft holds to introduce cutting edge technology and show developers the roadmap for Microsoft's platforms. What that means for me, is that I've been talking about F# non-stop to anybody who will listen. Random Notes: Azure is some cool stuff. Previously you'd write some code and make cool apps, but if you wanted that to ...

I love Stack Overflow. If you haven't visited this site, you really owe it to yourself to fire up a browser window and check it out. So, what is Stack Overflow and why should you care? Well, Joey deVilla and I bumped into Jeff Atwood at Microsoft PDC and asked him exactly that question. Download(s): WMV My apologies for the short interview. Jeff didn't have a lot of free time on his hands. Joey and ...

CodePlex - PDC Resource List Maker Just a note to say that I’ve checked in a tweak to my PDC List Maker utility so it now optionally uses the Channel 9 PDC RSS Feed As you can see in my FUBLY (FUnction But ugLY) UI, there are now there List/Catalog/Data sources. The one I original used, the Channel 9 RSS feed and a version of that feed that I captured/cached today. Of the three, the ...

I've posted a PDC2008 Sessions page that contains a simple list of all keynotes and sessions by title with links to each corresponding page on Channel 9. I've also made it easy to download the PowerPoint presentations and to grab any sample code the speaker has elected to provide. I hope you find it useful.
