This release adds support for Pwning the 2.0.2 5C1 firmware on the iPhone and iPod touch, as well as an update the to latest version of Installer.app. Mac-only for now, but sit tight for a few days. Strangely, the Dev Team made a point of mentioning that they haven't made any new progress on a 3G baseband unlock, but it doesn't exactly sound like they've given up. [iPhone Dev Team via TUAW]

Mac users, hold on because they are working on the Mac version too. Until then, you can always use Pwnage. [iPhone Dev]

The iPhone Dev folks have released QuickPwn, their new iteration of the Pwnage tool. Unlike its predecessor, you don't have to do a full firmware restore to get Installer.app goodness, which is great. Quickpwn itself is still a Windows-only command-line beta, but a rough GUI version has already hit the web. As with all beta iPhone stuff, try at your own risk, and it's unclear as yet if it works with the new 2.0.2 update. ...

QuickPwn complements WinPwn/PwnageTool. This has been released by iPhone Dev Team to reduce the hassle of needing iTunes to rebuild/restore your device afterwards. Here is how this sub-app works: iPhone Dev Team says that it’s a tool that will make jailbreaking a phone more quickly and easily, without requiring a full restore. It’s more convenient because you do not need to make a full IPSW and use iTunes with it, but your phone still ends ...

News is just out of a new way to jailbreak your iPhone, and this time the tool is specifically designed to work "quickly and easily, without requiring a full restore." Quickpwn has been released as a beta, intended to complement the main PwnageTool. It works with iPhones and iPod's running 2.0.1 firmware, and operates very quickly without needing iTunes to rebuild/restore your device afterwards. This beta version is basically feature-complete, but lacks a "funky UI" ...

Stephen Colbert spoke, and the people listened: The kill switch that lets Apple remotely remove applications on your iPhone can be disabled with the push of a button. All you need is a jailbroken phone and the updated BossPrefs app found on Cydia. Simply choose "Disable Apple App Killswitch" in BossPrefs and Bob Barker that puppy into oblivion. This isn't the only way to get rid of the kill switch, but it's the easiest we've ...

The latest version of the iPhone jailbreak/unlock utility PwnageTool is available now, and includes both Cydia and Installer 4 beta. You still can't unlock your iPhone 3G with this, but you can jailbreak it to use apps that aren't purchased from the official iTunes Store. Yeah, you know what to do by now. Go grab it. [iPhone Dev]

So it seems Apple isn’t the only one who can maintain break-neck code drop schedules. The iPhoneDev Team is back already with the latest version of their pineapple-iconed Pwange tool for jailbreaking iPhone 3G and iPod Touch, and jailbreaking and unlocking the original iPhone 2G. Version 2.0.2 for use with 2.0.1 may be a little confusing for some, so maybe a better numbering system can be worked out there, but this update also includes the ...
