Filed under: Misc. Gadgets, Transportation We came for the car, we stayed for the promoter. Takara Tomy's previously announced AeroSpider RC car, which mystically scales walls and cruises upside-down, is finally shipping this month in Japan. Cool though that may be, the real news here is the overgrown 4-year old used to show off just how amazing this minuscule vehicle truly is. Head on past the break to see what we mean -- trust us, ...

If you love R/C toys, this Wi-Fi router monster truck is definitely a project worth tackling. In a nutshell, a guy named Jonathan Bennet managed to rig a very hackable Linksys WRT54GL router to a $5 R/C monster truck so that it could be driven via the internet from up to 500 meters (1640 feet) away. Although not designed to be a how-to guide, there is more than enough information on the project page for ...

Jonathan Bennett is calling this $5 dollar RC car — a Linksys WRT54GL and a Panasonic Bl-C1A network camera soldered to its guts — a "WiFi Robot." I call it the only RC car I have ever wanted: it can be driven wirelessly by laptop from up to 500 meters away. A miniature Linksys monster truck to vroom around the neighborhood: it's so appropriate. The WRT54G series always has been the Big Foot family of ...

Japanese toy maker Taiyo Corp has unveiled an R/C mini-chopper fitted with a proximity sensor that forces the device to descend when it hovers too close to the ceiling. A feature like that makes sense for novice users, and it appears to have 3-channel control, but beginners probably have more to worry about than just the ceiling when flying indoors. Plus, 30-60 minutes of charge time is going to earn you 5 minutes of use, ...

The video shows the work of one Josef Pr?ša and his brother, they hail from the Czech Republic. They created a control system for an R/C car that makes use of the iPhone and gets the accelerometer in on the action as well. According to Pr?ša: It has five buttons, four of them you can use for traditional driving and when you press the last one, it unlocks the accelerometer control in the same way ...

I love helicopters. The smooth ride, incredible view from the windows, the chopping of air sound. Lifting off into thin air, effortlessly. And I can’t wait to try this $29 Black Stealth 3-Channel R/C Helicopter someone in the office just ordered. The 3 channel remote gives you control of up, down, right, left, forward and backward– more than enough flexibility to do office fly-overs and torment the interns. Via Zoomdoggle

Here’s something you don’t see every day, a radio-controlled 9-inch “space surfer” that hovers in the air, spins 360 degrees, and moves left, right, backward and forward. Capable of indoor or outdoor flights, the space surfer has dual propellers that generate enough thrust to send the device from a stationary position to 66-feet in the air without requiring a hand-launch. The radio frequency remote control has proportional throttle and trim settings that allow it to ...

This radio-controlled, zero gravity, mini racing car is introduced as “the next generation of upside down-driving vehicles” - a smaller version of those wall-climbing R/C toys you might have come across before. Believe it or not, this sporty little racer is capable of driving across any smooth surface; horizontal, vertical or even completely upside down. Here’s a video clip of the zero gravity micro car in action: Zero Gravity Micro features an advanced Venturi suction ...

The guys at Think Geek are bringing R/C junkies one of the cheapest 3-channel mini choppers on the market with the new "Black Stealth." Unlike dinky 2-channel versions, the Black Stealth can handle forward flight with ease—or so they claim.
