From the Washington Post: "Frustrated by the failure to overturn Roe v. Wade [and the second tanking of the abortion ban in South Dakota], a growing number of antiabortion pastors, conservative academics and activists are setting aside efforts to outlaw abortion and instead are focusing on building social programs and developing other assistance for pregnant women to reduce the number of abortions." "Social programs" and "assistance" like "crisis pregnancy centers" and helping healthcare providers not ...

This young woman is Eri Yoshada, the first female recruited to play professional baseball on men’s teams in Japan. She adores the Red Sox. “I’m really happy I stuck with baseball,” Yoshida said in a news conference Monday after she was chosen with 32 others in the new league’s draft. “I want to pitch against men.” This is a great step for women athletes all over the world. Go Eri! -Link

by Special Correspondent Fatemeh Fakhraie I know, I know. If you’re looking for socially conscious rap or hip hop, you don’t go to Busta Rhymes. But this still surprises me: Maytha from KABOBfest has highlighted Rhyme’s song “Arab Money,” which has some disgustingly racist lyrics. Maytha brings up some great points about this video, namely, that it is a blatant example of the acceptability of anti-Arab racism. Let me highlight some of Busta’s rhymes: Women ...

A outra é a Google.

Filed under: Portable Video, Wearables Tanya Vlach, a San Francisco-based artist, lost her eye in a 2005 car accident, and now keeps a blog chronicling the "monocular life." She's got a real-enough looking prosthetic peeper, but Tanya's a self-described "sci-fi geek," and, with the approval of her doctor, she's put out a call for engineers to build her a camera... for her fake eye. Likening her possible future self (the one with the eye-cam installed) ...
