See that. No, not that, that, the new touchscreen from Samsung. It's part of its new TS series of Magicinfo LCDs targeting businesses and digital advertising markets. The LCD panels measure 32-, 40-, 46-, 70-, and 82-inches and can be linked together to form a massive touch experience. Just don't forget your hand sanitizer and bus glove, Mr. Pantywaist.Filed under: DisplaysSamsung kicks out new touchscreen LCDs for your public smudging originally appeared on Engadget on ...

Last month, McDonald's Japan closed its Omotesando shop without warning and a few weeks later, just as suddenly, this QUARTER POUNDER shop appeared. It's basically the old store, but they've removed most of the fixtures, furniture and wall coverings, closed the dining areas and painted the place black and red. And they've cut the menu down to just a few items. You can order Coke or Coke light, french fries, and either a Quarter Pounder ...

Some time ago while looking through an old set of encyclopaedias when I found some pictures of road signs. Two of the interesting signs are shown above.I've never in my life seen a "play street" sign in the UK, and the country seems to have great difficulty in putting up 20 mph speed limit signs, let alone 15 mph signs. However, both of these things were apparently possible in when my old encyclopaedia was printed back ...

Filed under: Displays As showcase displays push to 150-inches and beyond, we won't blame you if you missed Shinoda's surprisingly lightweight (7.9-pounds) 125-inch curved plasma when it was first unveiled back in May. Especially since it manages a rather paltry 960 x 360 pixels from that trio of joined, 1-meter wide (1-mm thin!) flexible plasma panels. The fact that it's going production in April/May of next year is certainly notable, even if the first applications ...

One of my favourite studios, Bibliotheque, has just posted a fantastic update of work on their site. There’s a lot of solid graphic design on there, as well as some chuffing splendid information graphic examples. I’d have posted this when I found out about it, but the site has been intermittently down, probably due to the enormous traffic it must be getting (it has been pimped on nearly every design blog going, such is its ...

After NYU student Alana Taylor wrote a critical piece about the merits of her journalism class for PBS's MediaShift blog, her professor, Mary Quigley, caught wind of it and told the class, "We can all agree that there will be no more blogging or Twittering about the class." Can we all agree on that? Especially since this very same professor had previously told them, “Nowadays it’s essential for journalists to blog." Professor Quigley later explained, ...
