This week has seen many updates to applications that I reviewed before at Ghacks. It took me more than an hour to go through all of them and create this list. The list contains the names of the applications that have been updated, their current version and a short description. Each points to the website of the developer so that it should be easy to download the latest version from those websites. Sometimes those versions ...

Yet again, an Apple update steals the show with the release of iPhone OS 2.0.2. Strangely enough, you may have been a recipient of the following text message (ostensibly from Apple) even if you upgraded: For a release that just “fixed bugs,” I find it difficut to believe that the motivation behind the SMS (if it was from Apple) is not more related to a security issue than Apple’s desire to ensure iPhone users are ...

TUAW reports that Apple released a software update for its MacBook Air last night, which is said to fix issues with video playback and processor idling. But more importantly, Apple warned against running apps that modify processor performance (TUAW lists CoolBook), as the update does not support them. The software update and accompanying documentation can be found here and here. [TUAW]

This week has seen lots of software updates again and it took me some time to update the list. Many popular applications have been updated with new release versions or beta / alpha versions including a new Beta version of Opera 9.52, µTorrent 1.8 and Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 Alpha 2. Lots of Microsoft applications have seen updates as well like DirectX Redistributable August 2008 and Microsoft .NET Framework (v3.5) 3.5 Service Pack 1 including those ...

Last night I noticed that there was a new update to OS2008 designed to enhance the email and browser … My last experience with the software update was from a re-flash and I remain very impressed with how this worked as well. I chose to do a backup (safety first) but had no need to restore. After a required reboot, my system was humming again. I can’t say I am noticing any real changes with ...

What a busy week. It’s almost the opposite of last week which was rather uneventful. Dozens of excellent software programs have been updated in this week and I really do not know where to start. It took a long time to compile the list and I’m sure I probably forgot half of the applications that have been updated. To mention some remarkable ones: µTorrent, Locate32, Opera and Notepad++ have all been updated in this week. ...

Apple released Security Update 2008-005. The update addresses many security issues including a DNS vulnerability. We recommend installing this update as soon as possible using Apple Software Updater or download it from Apple’s download page.

The iPhone 2.0 software is pretty good. We like the App Store a lot; it adds a boatload of new functionality to the iPhone. But it's certainly not perfect. Having used it for a few weeks, we've discovered a number of little quirks that we really hope are addressed in the upcoming update. From bugs to missing features, here are ten things that would make the iPhone a much more attractive device.

This week was rather uneventful, seems like a lot of developers are on summer vacations. Only a few applications have been updated this week and even less that I would consider core applications that are always installed on my system. Please let me know if you know a software that has been updated as well and that is not listed on this page. The application of the week award goes to Media Player Classic which ...

What a week. This week has seen so many updates, it took almost twice as long to compile the list than last week. Several popular applications have been updated this week including such heavyweight ones like Autoruns, Opera, uTorrent and Flock. It definitely was an exciting week and I had to update lots of the installed applications on my Windows XP system. The update of this week award goes to my favorite desktop search application ...

Filed under: iLife, Software Update, MobileMeAs Scott already posted, iLife '08 just released a slew of updates. Although Software Update says that over performance and general compatibility issues were addressed in most products, the biggest change is MobileMe support for all iLife '08 applications.iPhoto, iWeb and iMovie are now properly linked with the MobileMe service. This should be welcome news to iWeb customers who have been unable to maintain or update elements of their MobileMe ...

Apple released the latest version of iTunes, which can be downloaded from Apple’s site or from the Software Updater. iTunes 7.7 includes support for the Apple iPhone/iPod Touch App Store. The update also added many other countries in the iTunes Store list including Saudi Arabia! Choosing Saudi Arabia will show you the App Store for the iPod Touch/iPhone. That will probably mean the iPod Touch owners in Saudi Arabia will have access to the 2.0 ...

Lots of updates for popular applications in this week. The usual suspects have been updated, like uTorrent, Azureus, Opera or foobar that seem to be updated on a weekly schedule but also some applications that don’t get updated that often, say Azureus or Tagscanner. A short explanation about this post for the new readers. I’m writing an article each Wednesday about last week’s software updates. Only free and Open Source software makes it into that ...
