Discarted checked back with Mike Anzaldi, the photojournalist who was arrested for photographing a crime scene from a location where the police told him he could stand (see my November 9, 2008, blog for background info). Unfortunately, Mr. Anzaldi has been arrested again for covering another reported crime. Discarted gives the details.

This week is the “next week” that I’ve been talking about for weeks now. I have been planning to join a gym and start working out for quite some time now, never really thinking that “next week” would ever arrive. Next week is now. *Sigh* To get motivated, I have come up with the following tips and images that are hopefully going to help me get my workout on. If they work for me, they’ll ...

It used to be that Coral8 and StreamBase were the two complex event/stream processing (CEP) vendors most committed to branching out beyond the super-low-latency algorithmic trading marketing. But StreamBase seems to have pulled in its horns after a management change, focusing much more on the financial market (and perhaps the defense/intelligence market as well). Aleri, Truviso, and Progress Apama, while each showing signs of branching out, don’t seem to have gone as far as Coral8 ...

Filed under: World of Warcraft, Fantasy, Culture, MMO industry, Warhammer OnlineIt was inevitable that a wave of World of Warcraft players would be taken away from the game for Warhammer Online. It is also inevitable that many of those players would return to WoW after trying out the new shinies. Yet, according to a recent interview with Blizzard COO Paul Sams at GamesIndustry.biz, more than half of the players that left WoW for WAR have ...

Why is it that squirrels can sense some very important things like when an earthquake is coming or when winter approaches, but they just can't seem to get out of the way when a car is driving at them at 20 MPH?They store nuts in trees and bury them in the ground, remembering exactly where the are. They are clever enough to find bird seed that's almost impossible to get to. They easily balance themselves ...

Yes, I too am really sick of all these Apple/MacBook posts. I apologize, but we have no choice, really (turn off all Apple news by clicking here). Here, allow me to cleanse your palate with the above picture. Feel free to use the comments below to talk about anything at all, as long as it has nothing to do with Apple or their shiny, shiny products. [Sugarbush Squirrel]
