Netflix's Watch Instantly service is without a doubt one of the most popular streaming services out there, but while the game consoles get to enjoy much of the selection in HD, those who stream to a PC are left to standard definition. There've been many theories as to why this is the case and now Netflix's official Twitter feed lets us know the limits are content licenses and technical issues. The good news is that ...

Media streamers aren't exactly new, but there's another entrant to the field that works so simply and easily it should be nearly mandatory for any iPhone user. It's called Air Video—and it's only three bucks. Here's the scenario: I've got a NAS with about a terabyte or so of video sitting on my network. Some torrented files, a lot of DVD rips I made myself, a fair amount of random Xvid and MKV files I've kept ...

Tragedy! The New York Times is reporting that Viacom is going to pull "The Daily Show," "The Colbert Report," and other Comedy Central properties off of Hulu next week. The reason, as always: money. The bigger question: who's next? Apparently Viacom realized the importance of "The Daily Show" to Hulu—it's consistently one of the site's most popular programs and is clearly in sync with the Hulu demographc—and wanted outsized compensation, possibly including upfront payment. You'll ...

If you love movies, you love The Criterion Collection. It's as simple as that. So get excited, because the CC now has a channel on Hulu. As of right now, it only has the first six features from the Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman series, but more should be coming in the near future. Of course, since it's Hulu, it's not available outside the US, which sucks. But come on, free streaming Criterion Collection films! It's ...

Alice in Wonderland isn’t as popular as a Tiger Woods confession, it seems. MySpace hosted a live stream for the movie last night, with streaming video partner Ustream counting almost 400,000 views over the evening. Those are strong numbers … if it weren’t for the easy comparable of Tiger Wood’s live stream, which earlier that day attracted 638,000 views over its 15 minute run.The “ultimate fan event” is the latest in a series of star-studded broadcasts ...

I don't know how to best sum up Infinitec's new "flash drive" in a headline—which is pretty obvious at this point. But what it can do is pretty unique, once you wrap your head around it.Infinitec has created a USB stick that contains an 802.11n module capable of creating an ad hoc network through any device's USB port. But on the receiving end, it appears as nothing more complicated than a flash drive. In other ...
