“Yak” has many connotations - some more positive than others. What yak mobile will mean to Canadians this time next year when they go to market nationally (minus Quebec) has equally as many possible implications for consumers and the mobile market. CEO Tony Lacavera of Globalive Communications Corp. (who own yak) presented an overview of their vision and market strategy this week at Mobile Monday. Here are some highlights and what they may mean to ...Shared by Zunaid (39)Contribute comment -

Over the past year I’ve blogged on more than one occasion about the frustrations many Canadian Marketers have had around the lack of data available on how Canadians use and interact with mobile. This week Lemay-Yates Associates Inc. (LYA)has released a 100 page report after conducting extensive research into the Canadian broadband mobile market over the last few months covering handsets offered by 17 mobile carriers, flanker brands and MVNOs/resellers, as well as their features. ...Shared by Zunaid (39)Contribute comment -
BlackBerry Storm vs. BlackBerry Bold Camera (2)

As a proponent of ‘blogging from your BlackBerry’, one of the features of my BlackBerry Bold that really lets me down is the camera. Even though it is vastly superior to previous BlackBerry models, it’s not quite web-tech blog quality. Obviously, one of the first things I did when I sat down with the Telus BlackBerry Storm was a camera comparison. As you can see, the BlackBerry Storm easily outperforms the Bold’s camera. Not only ...Shared by Brian Junyor (20) DeadRinga (14)Contribute comment -

Is your company blocking access to YouTube? Can no one get on Facebook or check out MySpace? Is your IT department still trying to sell your senior management on the absurd notion that allowing people to access websites that have Flash animation on them could cause some kind of security breach, or worse, cripple your entire technological infrastructure with a deadly computer virus? We made it through the Y2K scare, but something bigger is brewing ...Shared by | Balu | (25) Aaron (6) Chris Brogan (4) Christopher (7) Chuck (8) Cláudia Mello Belhassof (0) Dan York (0) dannywahlquist (0) David Wayne (0) Dedric "That One" Lam (1) Elwin Witzke (0) Jim Cahill (3) Jon (34) Kneale Mann (1) manuscrypts (22) mathewi (23) Mike Fruchter (260) Mitch Joel (5) Paul Whitaker (0) Rax Lakhani (0) Robert Carpenter (5) Stanley Stevens (2)- Jim Cahill said: Are you "digital natives" being blocked by HR and IT at the office?

Boy Genius Report (86) permalink
Since it was bought out by Rogers in 2004, Fido has always been somewhat of a discount brand in that it offers relatively cheap plans and an abundance of phones that can be had for little or no cost. Despite the fact it sells the iPhone 3G, Fido has in the past year become more and more of a discount brand as it started to heavily advertise plans starting at $17.50 per month that were ...Shared by Harold (0) RJ P. Big news for Canadians came out last week regarding their choice of wireless carriers, as it seems that within a few years, Canada will be a fully GSM country. Both Bell and Telus have announced their intention of launching HSPA GSM service by 2010, with the intention of moving towards an eventual 4G LTE network. Both Bell and Telus plan to layer the upcoming HSPA networks over their CDMA networks, in the hope that the ...Shared by Zunaid (39)Contribute comment -

Big news today in Canada’s wireless industry. Telus and Bell announced they are partnering to upgrade their wireless network to 3G nationwide, laying the groundwork for an eventual move to 4G. The move should put both companies on equal footing with Rogers, but playing catchup is expensive: Although both companies declined to provide any clear insights to the cost of the upgrade, analysts expect it to be approximately between $750-million to $1-billion, split two ways ...Shared by Roger Kondrat (0)Contribute comment
