Filed under: Gaming, iPhoneIconfactory and ARTIS Software have released Frenzic for iPhone, a fast-paced puzzle game that matches the piece and color combination skills of Bejeweled with a series of pie-shaped game boards. The game is an ideal timewaster -- my favorite kind of game -- perfect for waiting in line or on the subway. Frenzic starts off easy enough: you're presented with a colored pie slice, and you must move it from the center ...

The New Tee Vee conference is underway today in San Francisco. Om Malik, one of the conference’s founders, says they started the event “in order to closely track and monitor the growth of online video.” This year’s gathering features panels and presentations from people involved in “old tee vee” (the creator of the CSI: series, a writer for the popular Heroes program, and execs from ABC/Disney and Fox). They are mixed in with executives from ...

[Coliseum Shop via Outblush via ...

When was the first time you ran into functional programming? For me it was a fairly confusing introduction sometime in my junior or senior year of college. When you pick up a new approach to solving problems--or when you pick up a new programming language--you usually isolate new concepts and play with them one at a time. Getting started with functional programming can be difficult because you almost always end up learning a new language ...

It was mentioned earlier today, but it probably bears repeating: there are some sad (and probably dangerous) racists who count themselves among John McCain's and Sarah Palin's supporters. From shouting out that Obama is a terrorist to hollering "Kill him!" at a rally when Obama's name is mentioned to telling an African-American member of the press corps to "Sit down, boy," there's a lot of ugly shit around this year that makes purple Band-Aids and ...

From shouting out that Obama is a terrorist to hollering "Kill him!" at a rally when Obama's name is mentioned to telling an African-American member of the press corps to "Sit down, boy," there's a lot of ugly shit around this year that makes purple Band-Aids and flip-flops look like thoughtful political discourse. And, what's even more horrifying, that they think they can openly say racist shit because being at a Republican rally — the Republican party, notably, being the party responsible for the aforementioned Emancipation Proclamation and 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments — means that they are among "their" kind. And, given that neither John McCain nor Sarah Palin — the new heirs to the leadership of the party of motherfucking Lincoln — could take a minute, a second, to chide a supporter and say, "That language has no place in this party," they might be right.

Filed under: Fun, Time-Wasters As a kid, at family reunions and holidays like Thanksgiving, my cousins and I used to play a variation of Super Mario Bros. that we liked to call, "Suicide Mario." The goal of the game was not to complete the level as directed, but to find the most creative way to kill our Mario or Luigi character. Bonus points were awarded for quick, hilarious and extra sadistic acts of hara-kiri. It ...

I know I shouldn't be looking but I can't quite turn away. It's sick, it's twisted, it's the internet on it's worst level and darn it, it's kind of fun. At least for a little while. Forumwarz ...

Filed under: Fun, Games, Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Time-WastersSuperTuxKart is a cross-platform version of the popular Nintendo racing game Super Mario Kart, with a few key differences. Instead of Mario characters, it stars the beloved Linux mascot, Tux the Penguin, and some of his friends. The racing takes place on all-new tracks, either as a one-off race or a series. Up to 4 human players can join in, and up to 10 racers can be on ...
