I talked in the past about trying to find an open source, free and complete alternative to expensive EM software. Well Amiando it’s the closest solution to that. They have released a new version of the already great platform. I must admit it kicks asses, to use an allegoric phrase. Don’t get me wrong, I still think an open source solution would be great but these guys did exceptionally well. Who should use Amiando? Mostly ...

I dislike exercising in a gym full of workout equipment. I prefer to play competitive sports in the Big Blue Room instead of puffing away on a treadmill to nowhere. Unfortunately, this means that most winters I’ll add five to 10 pounds to my weight because the weather doesn’t always want to cooperate with my outdoor sports preferences. I’m also obsessed with video games. So, you can imagine my delight when I started reading rumor ...

Has Firefox 3.0.1 given you trouble? Well it sound like you might want to contact the extension’s author to make sure thy are using the right compatibility range. Once again Basil does a great job at explaining this in a way that should make sense to us all. When add-on authors publish their add-on they declare the compatibility range for an add-on. It typically looks like “2.0 to 3.0.*” - meaning that at minimum, this ...

In response to Making Incell charts better article, reader Tony mailed me an excel sheet in which he has modified the charts to display colors and negative values. This is pretty cool. Take a look at the chart below: MS Excel Incell charts with colors and negative values The trick lies in displaying the charts in 2 rows, one for positive values and another for negative values and then coloring positive row with green and ...

Spending a night or two in Boringsville is an inevitable part of long term travel: you need to make a train or bus connection, or it’s the only place you can find some accommodation. Whatever the reason, there’s no need to make your stay in a small, insignificant town boring. It can be even better than hitting the big smoke or camping out in the national park, you just have to know how. Byers, Texas ...

“The ideal candidate will be skilled at multitasking and working in a fast-paced environment.” Well, that’s more than enough to scare away the anxiety-disordered job-seeker, isn’t it? Finding a job is tough. Finding a job that’s a good fit for someone who has an anxiety disorder is even more difficult. How is it possible? It’s not like you can openly profess your panic disorder or anxious tendencies to the hiring manager and hope for an ...

I answer a lot of questions about SQL Server - on forums, in newsgroups, in presentations and so on - and many are "101", or basic questions. That's great! I don't have a problem with that at all - I enjoy helping someone that is new to SQL Server learn the ropes. Over the years I've collected some really great links that I can share with people about learning to manage SQL Server. I thought ...

The couple who lived in the house next door to me when I was growing up owned their home for more than 50 years. Helen and Richard raised their children there and stayed in the house until they passed away in their late 80s. After they left the house, a younger couple moved in and started raising a family of their own. On a Saturday afternoon while doing repair work on the house, the new ...

Normally MySQL replication will stop whenever there is an error running a query on the slave. This happens in order for us to be able to identify the problem and fix it, and keep the data consistent with the mater that has sent the query. You can skip such errors, even if this is not recommended, as long as you know really well what are those queries and why they are failing, etc. For example ...
