Is sustainability a national security issue? Politicians, policy makers and academics may be willing to argue sides of that question, but for the U.S. Army, the answer seems to be “Yes, sir!” Following up on earlier announcements of solar arrays and emission reduction goals, the Army released its first annual sustainability report on Friday. Covering the period of FY 2004-2007, the report notes a number of encouraging trends: Sixteen Army installations with comprehensive Installation Sustainability ...

Posted by Bill Byrne, Mobile UI Witch, GoogleCall me lazy, but sometimes I just don't have the time or the patience to type a search query on my iPhone. Well, no more excuses. With the new release of the Google Mobile App for iPhone, I can just hold the phone to my ear, wait for the tone and say stuff like "Indian restaurants." And just like that, I'm looking at a bunch of places that ...

We actually weren’t even going to do an unboxing / first impressions post. Seen one HTC Touch Pro, seen ‘em all, right? Wrong, guys. In a rare example of AT&T not scumming down their devices (adding crapware, horrible themes, removing features, blocking stuff), we think they’ve actually made the device better! For starters, one of the most important things is the connectivity. The regular Touch Pro does not have tri-band UMTS/HSDPA support. The AT&T Fuze ...

Filed under: Cellphones Well, that didn't take long -- the HTC Fuze just started trickling into AT&T retail stores, and now it's available for sale online as well. Just as we'd heard, pricing is set at $300 after rebate on a two-year contract, which makes the iPhone / BlackBerry Bold / Fuze decision all the more difficult for AT&T customers -- a dilemma we're guessing the suits in Dallas are only too happy to inflict ...

It looks like Sprint won't be the only carrier on the block with HTC Touch Pro (otherwise known as the HTC Fuze) if this photo obtained by BGR is the real deal. As you can see, it features the Fuze ready to go in its retail packaging. An earlier rumor speculated that October 23rd would be the drop date—obviously that day has come and gone, but let's hope the delay is about to be over. ...

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, ATT, Windows Mobile, HSDPA If you had any lingering doubt that HTC's US, GSM version of the Touch Pro (AKA the Fuze) was headed to AT&T in the near future, you can probably take a deep breath. Thanks to an eagle-eyed tipster, we're now able to view HTC's official page for the device, although it looks like they may not be done with all the coding, as an image of the ...

Jean-Claude Van Damme was one of the iconic action stars of the late-eighties, early nineties. In early entries like Bloodsport and Kickboxer he showed off his skills in full-contact karate, becoming the heir apparent to Bruce Lee in terms of style and charisma. Later films such as Universal Soldier and Timecop continued to utilize his martial arts skills but attempted to fit him into a more conventional hero-mold, to great success. In the mid-nineties Van-Damme's ...

The HTC Touch Pro is now available on Sprint’s website for $299 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a two-year contract. The rebate requires that you have the Everything plan, Data Premier add-on, or PRO Pack add-on. If you’re going to use the data feature on this phone, you’ll likely have one of those anyway. Sprint sent me a review unit on Friday and I’ve been using it for a couple days now. I’ll have ...

Filed under: Cellphones We heard last week when Sprint launched the HTC Touch Pro at "select national retailers" that the device would be available online on November 2nd. Well, it's November 2nd, and they've kept their promise. The base retail price of the QWERTY smartphone is $579.99, but an "instant savings" of $180 combined with a $100 mail-in-rebate brings the price down to palatable $299.99 (with a 2-year agreement, needless to say). Of course, if ...

Pure speculation here, no concrete confirmation, just a case of putting two and two together. Now that we have gotten the disclaimer out of the way, let’s see what we have uncovered about the much anticipated and much debated Verizon Wireless Touch Pro by HTC. A document leaked by Phone Arena in August shows that the Sprint Touch Pro will ship with the Qualcomm 7501A processor clocked at 528MHz, while the Verizon variant will have ...

Finally, a little more holiday love from the jolly red giant. Sure the BlackBerry Storm will be out before Santa rolls around this year but it’s always nice to have options - especially since the Storm’s touchy clicky screen will surely not appeal to everyone. Worry not, it looks like the boys in red have a few treats for you. First up, the Samsung Omnia. Pictured above sporting a Verizon Wireless boot screen, the Omnia ...
