[Rory Hyde] and [Scott Mitchell] are exploring several projects that add more information to public spaces. The first is the Spoke-o-dometer a persistence of vision device that can display bicycle speed and distance traveled. To develop the device, they first bought a few POV kits to test out. They decided to build their version using an Arduino. Once they had the display proof of concept working, they added a hall effect sensor like the SpokePOV ...

[war6763] sent us this hack to power an amplifier in a MINI Cooper. Apparently, aside from being unconventionally handsome, they’re also unconventionally wired. Amplifiers are generally wired to the ignition or stereo and turned on when the car is turned on. Due to some strange wiring, this just isn’t possible in the MINI Cooper. Some of our favorites are: The Tesla roadster proving electric cars can be fun. IBM breaking the petaflop barrier with LANL’s Roadrunner. The Large Hadron Collider for getting everyone scared ...

[Gabe Graham] sent us this step by step process of building a dock for his Zune and hacking is steering wheel controls to work with it. Like many of us, he was not happy with the performance of those little radio transmitters that hook to your mp3 player. He remedied the situation by mounting a dock for his Zune onto the console and patching into his stereo. The sound quality was great, but controlling it ...

So if i keep thinking of ideas, someone else will have the same idea, but actually take the time to implement it? This is great.
