Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, iPhone, App StoreWell, Victor took away part of my thunder with his pick of Texas Hold 'Em, but I have three other frequently-used iPhone apps in mind. Twitterific is my first choice. I love Twitter and formerly used the awe-inspiring Hahlo web app on my iPhone, but there's no native Hahlo app...yet. So for the time being, Twitterific is what I use to blast my tweets out to the world. ...

Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Hardware, Software, Apple, iPhoneAppleInsider says that Apple has yanked the Push notification framework from the latest version of the iPhone 2.1 firmware beta. Push got a lot of play during WWDC -- it's a service that will send information to the apps on your iPhone as needed (tweets, for example, will just come rather than having to refresh Twitterific all the time), but apparently Apple doesn't think it's ready for ...

My Exchange push service totally fries the battery life. I bet this is the reason. Blackberry is still king.

That's a bit annoying. Of course, it's a hard problem at scale -- both macro scale and micro scale on the phone itself (what if you've got only 3 apps getting notifications? But they're IM, twitter, and friendfeed? Do you still have battery life after half an hour?)

I have to preface this post with a confession: The first time I heard about blogging, my response was "That's the dumbest @$%#&%$ thing I've ever heard of. Why the hell would I want to do that?" I said the exact same thing about Twitter when I first heard about it. The exact same words. Of course, both times I was totally wrong… blogging and Twitter have become the two most important tools I use ...

The iPhone has developed the same culture of Twitteritis that the rest of the Web has in the two-and-a-half weeks since the launch of the App Store and the iPhone 3G . Everyone wants to build the perfect Twitter application, but with so many to choose from, which one do you choose? Twitterific would seem to be the odds-on favorite to win. Already established on the desktop, the blue bird's move to the iPhone was ...

This is going to be a ridiculously long post so I am putting headers in bold so that you can find any area of interest quickly. I am going to give a full review of the iPhone 3G after a week of ownership and use in these categories: intro, roll out strategy, hardware, software, outro (the bottom line). I am now going to turn on Bajofondo, take a sip of the Macallen 12 year and give you my ...

So, we were a little premature when we declared Twitterific the best iPhone Twitter app—Twinkle, the hugely popular Twitter app with location goodness for Installer.app, just came to the App store. Its killer location features are totally intact: Tweets are lojacked with your current location (Twitterific just updates your profile's current location), and you can check out who's tweeting within one, ten, or up to 1000 miles from you. Twinkle's UI isn't quite as info ...

Everyone is clamoring over the iPhone app store launch so I thought I'd chime in. With iTunes updated and my phone with the 2.0 OS, I was downloading a few this morning and these are my thoughts. The number of really, really poorly made applications on the iPhone application store is scary. There are very obvious bugs and many of the applications I've seen have crashed or are slow enough to be unusable. I'm pretty ...

CrunchBase Information Twhirl MySocial 24×7 Alert Thingy Twitterific Information provided by CrunchBase

MySocial 24×7, a Friend Feed/ Twitter Firefox sidebar Michael wrote about in April has launched an Adobe AIR application. Like the Firefox sidebar, the AIR app allows users to filter the view by type of data, comment or bookmark any entry, and users can also reply via Twitter. The big selling point for the new app is an inbuilt movie/picture viewer, allowing users to view content without the need to revert to a browser window. ...
