Earlier this month, I looked a little bit at the Japanese classic car scene and discussed some of the popular models and different styles of classic car restoration and modification in Japan. One thing that I didn't really touch upon in that post was the "kyusha kai" culture that can be found all over Japan. There are different names that have been used for these cars and sometimes they are known as "bosozoku" or "yanki" ...

This was another one of my favorite old carousels in Paris, at the Museum of Natural History. What are these fine beasts? The answer should be clear to all of us. They're the final link in that evolutionary chain. At last... we see the logical progression, from dinosaur to giraffe to... sea lion. We've found the missing link.

Wittnauer is a brand that the average person doesn't know too much about and probably would never consider purchasing one, and that is a shame. The brand was officially founded in 1890 by Swiss immigrant brothers here in New York, and was the first to couple American ideals with Swiss mechanics. If you want a detailed history click here, but the brand is still around today as part of the Bulova family. They have made ...

Yesterday evening, I went to go on my walk, but a certain three and a bit year old decided he wanted to join me. After some time negotiating that no, he couldn't come, soon followed a rather large tantrum, I gave up. ...

Retro and vintage designs are often considered as being outdated, looking old, unattractive and dull. That’s not true. Although compared to modern design, retro is mostly a completely different realm, it has a large variety of benefits modern graphic designers often tend to overlook. And that’s a pity. Because we, as designers, can learn a lot from it. Nostalgic designs arise feelings, awake memories and better manage to involve broad range of readers even although ...

Filed under: Desktops, Gaming Call us biased, but we still prefer Ben Heckendorn's portable ColecoVision over this one, but that's not to say we don't deeply respect the immense amount of work that went into the mini ColecoVision. The seller of the unit stripped a ColecoVision PCB from an original casing and got to modding; when all was said and done, the miniaturized version still operated fine and required a lot less floor space. 'Tis ...

Library of Dust depicts individual copper ...

And I do mean old. I will say that I had almost this exact same dot matrix printer that I used for many many years. Kudos on using the Spectrum, but the amazing thing to me is that the hard drives act as speakers. Here it is… the remix of Radiohead’s “Nude” : Big Ideas (Don’t get any) from 1030 on Vimeo.
