I Want You to Want Me was an interactive visualization of online romance: (It) chronicles the world’s long-term relationship with romance, across all ages, genders, and sexualities, gathering new data from a variety of online dating sites every few hours. The system searches these sites for certain phrases, which it then collects and stores in a database. These phrases, taken out of context, provide partial glimpses into people’s private lives. Simultaneously, the system forms an ...Shared by Jon (6) SengMing (9)Contribute comment -

We are always looking for interesting and creative ways to visualize Brightkite content. When Universal Mind approached us with SpatialKey, we were excited about the possibilities. Indeed, we were not disappointed; take a look for yourself. The example data set shows only the first check in for each Brightkite user between the dates of April 28 and May 19, 2008. These numbers do not represent total users for the given time frame, the data set ...Shared by (jeff)isageek (48) IsaacMoore (1)Contribute comment -

What's that monkey thinking about when he's mushing down that banana or tossing feces at you? Well, you're looking at it—this is a map of where a macaque's thoughts live. It's made possible by new 3D visualization algorithms developed by neuroscientists at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston which render a brain's billions of individual neuron connections in full-color 3D, with each visible strand representing several tens of thousands of the too-small-to-image neural pathways. It's all ...Shared by Bill (11) christina (4) Frank (12) G Code (12) guruh (10) Mark (20) MH (25) Paul Winch (0) rOckY (122) SFSlim (8) tarman (19) Tino (2)Contribute comment -

The basic premiss behind this new breed of music search is that you start by entering a genre, artist, song, or geo-location, and you are returned music that relates to your search term. In most cases the returns are presented as a visualization in order to show the connections between data. Below you find a list of the sites that I go to when I'm trying to find new music. It is a surprise, however, that seventeen different groups or individuals found a way to visualize Twitter tweets, each in a unique and supposedly helpful way (and our guess is that there's probably more out there).
