Ok, at first glance I thought this was a dumb idea; by putting a hole in the middle of the plate there is less room for food! Simple math; less food = less food. Then I realized that food on the floor is not worth anything – there is no five-second rule in my house – and that’s where food ends up every time I try to ferry it from kitchen to table. No joke, ...

“How Design Can Save Democracy” is AIGA’s attempt to identify common design problems in election ballots and offer improvements. Problem (excerpt) Solution (excerpt) More details. Is it an improvement? Sure. But the real crime here is how terrible the original one is. Looks like a bunch of lawyers trying to figure out Quark. These newlyweds know how to party. They were tasered and arrested at their raucous wedding reception, and two days later they were tasered and arrested again. (Photo by Kacper Skowron/For the Sun-Times) "The short version of the story is they didn't want to quit their partying," said Mike Sepic, Berrien County, Mich., chief assistant prosecutor. "If you put this in the class of wedding receptions gone bad, I guess this would take the cake." And ...

When it comes to where to sit in a movie theater, everybody has their favorite spot: • The back row crowd. We all know these people because most of us have been these people. With nobody behind you, the back row becomes a prime make out spot, perfect place to sneak sips from your secret flask, or just somewhere to place your incredibly tall and lanky body without blocking anyone’s view. Thanks for that, by ...

Americans consume 28 billion single use bottles of water per year and roughly 80 percent of those end up in a landfill. Even if you don't fancy yourself an eco-crusader, the impact of that amount of trash is significant, not to mention Bisphenol A—a chemical found in most water bottles—has been linked to a host of ailments including increased risk of cancer, obesity, early onset puberty, and diabetes. Companies are slowly phasing out the use ...

As an ASP.NET developer I'm pretty much sold on ASP.NET as a platform. I've used ASP.NET since the beginning of the early .NET betas and while I originally had a tough time getting started with it, I eventually came to really enjoy the framework. But once I understood the platform and the flexibility it offers, it's now really hard to think of any other Web development platform that I'd rather be working on. The flexibility ...
