Big rumor this weekend, which makes you wonder why it emerged during the weekend and not the workweek. Be that as it may… Apple is looking to construct, or already has, its own ultra modern manufacturing facility. A fancy factory, in English. Names being thrown around include Brick, MacBrick, or variations thereof. The facility would make use of, among other high-tech innovations, laser and water cutting of materials like aluminum—perhaps for the new MacBook? This ...

A lot of people have experienced slow transfer speeds to and from their HP MediaSmart Server, and some have had problems with it dropping connections all the time. One brave user has found a solution to this problem and has shared it with us. Blackprint has walked through the steps, written a tutorial and included pictures on how to update your NIC driver (aka ethernet driver). Before starting, I want to warn you that not ...

I just purchased a Dell Optiplex 755 PC to use as a server in my home environment. This was necessitated by a few things, including the need to test Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 (see my recent screenshot gallery), Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Small Business Server 2008, and Essential Business Server 2008. These are complex products and they require a lot more on the hardware end than your typical software review. The Optiplex has a 2.4 ...

Thats what so many want. Right ? I’m certainly not going to lie and say it is not a whole lot better having lots of money. I had a whole lot of fun and loved my life when I was eating mustard and ketchup sandwiches and sleeping on the floor of a 3 bedroom apartment that housed me and 5 buddies. I have a whole lot more fun now. It doesn’t suck to be rich. ...

Mark lives a life most of us would love to have. Of course he didn't explain how HE got rich. He sold Broadcast.com to Yahoo for billions. That requires something far beyond discipline: luck. Some people DO win the lottery! But, I find that following people who always chase money is pretty damn boring. I've been on private jets. I've been in expensive cars that cost more than nearly everything I own. Yawn. What is rich? My friend Teresa Williamson inviting me to an awesome concert. My wife hanging out with me on the couch. A conversation with someone who is changing the world. Money ain't everything. I watched my mom die with a bunch of gold in her basement. She couldn't take it with her. On the other hand, money does open doors easier and gets you into wild experiences, but it's not the only way to have wild experiences. That said, I'm following much of Mark's advice because, well, it's good advice for our times.

When I made my switch I made a real effort to find native Mac replacement applications for everything I use and for the most part I have been successful in that.I'll list these applications in the order in which I find myself using them and will include internal OS X ...

Whatever it is, Steve Jobs seems to think nothing of driving a car without license plates and parking in handicapped parking spaces, as the picture above, captured on September 30th by Flickr user lodev shows. Photo sharing site Flickr just activated an iPhone-scaled version of the site for anyone visiting the site with a mobile Safari browser. The menus are optimized to put the most-accessed activities—photo stream browsing, "Explore" mode, and recent comment activity—right up front, and your upload-by-email address is placed in the "More" section. Best of all, Flickr's site pre-loads many of the iPhone-scaled thumbnails you're checking out, so flipping between pictures often doesn't require any kind of ...

Exposure is a nice app for viewing Flickr photos on the iPhone. I'm still looking for a decent app to upload photos though. Not happy with the few I've seen because they don't allow me to upload photos private and/or don't allow greater customization with tags and titles.

Even better, he’s listed all the steps, so if you’re hankering for a quick weekend project (and you have a Mini 9), this may just do the trick. Note that it does include downloading a specialized version of Leopard off The Pirate Bay, which may or may not be illegal. Who cares, I say. A quick search for “MSIWindosx86.iso” there will ...

Windows only: If you have a U3-enabled flash drive, you might want to skip extra load time and the disk space the software chews up, and the U3 removal tool can help you do just that. U3 is a software bundle stored on a protected partition on a flash drive that emulates a CD-ROM when it's plugged into a Windows machine. While some people like the pre-packaged software and the sometimes expensive software add-ons, many ...

They compare a home brewed frankenstein build, in a Antec P180B chassis alongside a custom built WHS housed in a Chenbro ES34069 and a HP MediaSmart Server EX475. The five page article goes through each configuration with a parts list and pricing details, which you can read here.

Windows user skarhead187 demonstrates that you don't even need color to pull together an incredible custom desktop. I put this together using ObjectDock and Rainmeter. The icon set is Porn Needs You from deviantART. The task bar autohides at the top and appears on mouse-over to perfectly cover the top bar. This desktop also highlights how something as simple as tweaking your icons can completely makeover your desktop—something we've seen in previously featured desktops like ...

When the iPhone was first released, there was an abundance of speculation over whether the phone’s lack of Flash support would cripple its browser and give us something less than “the real web” that Apple had promised. At the time, Steve Jobs explained that the full version of Flash wouldn’t run well on the iPhone (the iPhone runs on an ARM11 chip, which doesn’t play nice with Flash), but that Adobe’s Mobile Flash was lacking ...

With this latest release, they’ve managed to pack just about everything Facebook has to offer ...
