My Leadership Day 2008 post Note: 7/ 7/2008 - This post is revised. I was exhausted after NECC and feel that my wording should be more improved now that I've had time to reflect. Thank you for your comments. None of us are perfect, particularly me. Thank you for making room in your rss reader for a flawed person like me. ;-) Many people have reflected on "their" NECC experience. While I was at NECC, ...

After much thought and discussions about ways I may be able to engage in meaningful dialog with my local school board members here in Edmond, Oklahoma about digital literacy and 21st century skills, I recorded a 17.5 minute video today which I posted to Google Video and am burning to DVD to mail tomorrow to all our board members. It is my hope that I’ll be able to meet individually and collectively with our board ...

We had mentioned last week that SIA #25, November-December 1974, included quite a bit of content related the the Hawks, so we thought we’d also take a look at their three-way comparison among a 1956 Studebaker Sky Hawk, a 1958 Packard Hawk and a 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. While one would think that they’re all too similar to perform a worthwhile comparison test, significant differences underlie the three, as author Rich Taylor points out.

Instead of shelling out more than $100 (plus refill costs) for a retail vacuum sealer, Instructable poster "Eric Forman" decided to piece together his own re-usable sealer using about $30 in materials. With a $20 brake bleeder, a cheap mason jar sealer top and some standard mason jars, he puts a serious seal on anything that can fit in a jar, and doesn't have to pay out for specialty plastic wrap. If you're not likely ...

The 3K RazorBook 400 Mini Notebook Computer looks like a real computer, but shrunk in the wash to a hand friendly size. Strange how they’ve polarised portable computing into massive juggernaut laptops at one end and teeny net friendly sub-portables at the other, eh? As I exited the NECC conference by exploding a cherry coke all over the Blogger Cafe, I knew I would have to take some time to provide a brain dump of the experience. I know that many discussions will continue to force me to reflect deeply over time. Hanging around with that many smart, passionate folks will do that you. So here for you is my reflections on the people and the ideas. The People: ...

We attend a lot of events here at Mashable, and we want to share what we learn there with you as quickly as possible. With lighter laptops and more people blogging, it’s fairly common to hear the clattering of keyboards during conferences and live events. As a result, the end-of-day recap post has been replaced by intermittent updates throughout the event. Enter live blogging, a fancy term for taking notes during an event and publishing ...
