We're definitely in full swing of two theme park fests right now: the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. They're not exactly opposites, but they do make me want to say "different strokes...

It's really about time to utilize the Muppets to the utmost of their potential. I disagree with those who say the Muppets are past their time - bull! Mickey isn't the only one who is timeless. The generation that FIRST grew up on Sesame street is in their early forties now. I'm thinking even in these harsh economic times, they still have SOME disposable income left to spend on the pursuit of their childhood friends. *~*~*

Interesting interchange with Bill Davis, president of Universal Orlando Resort, last week at a Halloween Horror Night function. It was a low-key, casual thing, but naturally conversation turned to the upcoming Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which is scheduled to...

This American Life What it is: Old favorite Chicago Public Radio show in a new format. Why it's significant: Are you disgusted by reality TV saturation on TV? Are you sick of a small whinny population of L.A. and Orange County residents getting a disproportionate amount of air time related to their actual contribution to American culture? Then, This American Life is for you. Not quite reality TV, not quite documentary, This American Life Started as ...

"This American Life" is one of the podcasts I listen to when I am driving long distance, or when I have some boring, mindless tasks to do at home. I can highly recommend it as a radio show or podcast, but I've yet to try the TV version. Guess this needs to go on my Amazon wish list!

Strodder has agreed to help answer Disneyland history questions. We’ll mix his answers in with our regular Ask Us Anythings. Click here if you want to ask us anything. What are Hidden Mickey’s? The term Hidden Mickey is something of a misnomer, because the Mickey that’s supposedly Hidden is actually in plain sight. A Hidden Mickey is primarily a three-circled shape that’s patterned after Mickey Mouse’s silhouetted head and round ears. However, simple mouse ears ...

“Rabbit rabbit” wasn’t part of my childhood. Alas, I grew up with the more painful “pinch punch first of the month…” What’s the deal with “rabbit rabbit”? You’ll have good luck all month if the first words you utter on the first of the month are “rabbit rabbit.” It’s extra lucky if it’s your birth month. Intrigued? There’s more poop on Wikipedia. It’s not too late for October — you can say it backwards before ...

FriendFeed's turning one! A year ago today, Bret, Jim, Paul and Sanjeev put our site and service out there and invited some folks. Soon, more people joined—as users, coworkers and friends. The rest, as they say, is history. Although not particularly ancient history. Still, it's hard to believe that it's already been a year. Certainly, it seems like a lot has happened. For those of you who might have missed any of it, here's a ...

You may not have noticed, but last night was the final call for the Adventurers Club, not to mention all the remaining clubs of Pleasure Island. I don’t have much to say on the matter other than I understand Disney’s motivation here, but still regret the loss of the Adventurers Club. If you don’t read anything else read this tribute by one of the opening year cast members, who then worked the show for another ...
