Bold statement, right? But look at this thing! The Solar Cell Tree Charger is an engineered tree with 54 solar cells that charge your gizmos by the sun. While nothing is plugged in a battery charges that will power your devices when there is no power. All of the branches are adjustable so that you can make sure each is exposed to the sun. Just washed my sheets, and going to bed at an hour so preposterously reasonable, it’s ridiculous. Goodnight! PS. Don’t you hate when you’re beyond exhausted but your sheets are sitting in a heap on top of your bed, and you sort of just want to curl up on the rug rather than to stuff pillows into pillowcases and tuck in corners and whatnot? If you have hangs, performance, memory issues, exceptions or crashes in Silverlight applications you can debug them using windbg and sos just like you would if the issues occurred in other .net applications. The difference is that Silverlight in IE runs a subset of the framework where the main dll is coreclr.dll rather than mscorwks.dll so you can't use the regular 2.0 version of sos.dll that you can find in the framework directory. Instead you ...- mattw said: windbg + Silverlight = wow

Two-Factor Authentication for the rest of us (10)

I’ve always been skeptical of the usability of two-factor authentication. Specifically, Microsoft employs a form of Two-Factor authentication using a Smart Card. To get access to our corporate resources from outside our network you are required to enter your username + password and enter your Smart Card (which is our Badge) into a Smart Card Reader entering your PIN number. The Smart Card contains a certificate that is used to identify you to Microsoft (in ...Shared by cek (2) EricAppel (2) ilennox (10) Keyvan Nayyei (0) Nitin Badjatia (3) Peter (1) PiAir (20) Rob (2) steven.vorefamily.net (1) vanerj (2)Contribute comment -

Scenario You are working with the XmlWriter class and trying to write the contents to something. You are expecting the XML declaration to look like:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> However, when you inspect the generated XML, it instead looks like:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> Background The XmlWriter method has an overloaded Create method that accepts ...Shared by Patrick (17) vanerj (2)Contribute comment -
Building a custom thread pool (series, part 2): a work stealing queue (1)

Generalities & Details: Adventures in the High-tech Underbelly (2) permalink
The primary reason a traditional thread pool doesn’t scale is that there’s a single work queue protected by a global lock. For obvious reasons, this can easily become a bottleneck. Two primary things contribute heavily to whether the global lock becomes a limiting factor for a particular workload’s throughput: As the size of work items become smaller, the frequency at which the pool’s threads must acquire the global lock increases. Moving forward, we expect the ...Shared by vanerj (2)Contribute comment -

When I am testing out issues with ASP.NET dynamic compilation and shadow copying, I frequently need to ensure the contents of the "temporary asp.net files" folder have been removed so that I get a clean and consistent repro each time. But I got bored of that so thought I would try to automate it with a command file. ...Shared by vanerj (2)Contribute comment -
